Are you saying that the premed programs are equal? Does any one of them edge out the other, even by a little?

pbotros1234,

I suppose I should be clearer about this: there is no such thing as a “pre-med program.” There are merely class requirements you must fulfill, extracurricular activities you must fulfill, the MCAT, and whatever support the school offers you in your application process.

All else being equal, NU will likly offer you the best overall resources, and the two UCs should be roughly equal. All three will, given your willingness to do your research and footwork, serve you equally well.

go to northwestern. end of discussion.

pbotros1234,
Look at my post (#14 on this thread), NU has the highest overall med school admit rate among the three. The only thing is that NU doesn’t give a matrix of GPA/MCAT vs placement rate so the comparison isn’t perfect.

It should be noted that there’s probably a good reason for NU’s admit rate: it houses a student body that’s generally stronger (in terms of statistical distribution) than the two UCs mentioned. The truth is that a person scoring a 3.7 with a 36 on the MCAT at any of the three will, all else being equal but the university attended, probalby have roughly similar results in terms of admission.

The “nice” thing about med school is that the MCAT is a great equalizer.

northwestern should definitely be your choice
since it has a better pre-med program and you’re receiving $$
