Hi everyone! I am an admitted student to both UCLA and Cal Poly SLO’s mechanical engineering programs, and I am having trouble making a decision. I know UCLA is more theoretical while Cal Poly is more hands-on, but I’d love to hear suggestions from current and former engineering students at both schools. Thanks in advance for any advice, stories, or suggestions!
Both are fine choices. If you learn better on paper you’ll thrive at UCLA. They are making the program more hands on but not nearly as much as cal poly.
Do you know whether either is better for getting jobs out of college? It seems like hands-on work would be more interactive and overall better for becoming and engineer, but the theory may be more important. Do you know what employers look for? Thanks
Career wise both will be the same in California. UCLA advantages in engineering are really only seen oos.
