UCLA or CAL spring?

So my brother got into UCLA math/econ and Cal economics major. However his cal is deferred for spring semester... what shud he do?
hes 19 at the moment turning 20 in september(incase age matters)
he wants to go to cal and do intern/co-op in fall to save up money for school.

So what shud he do ucla or cal?
he was totally not expecting berkeley with 3.67 gpa has been working since 17 abt 30 hrs a week trying to make ends meet. He also has taken 1 statistics course, 4 econ courses, 3 calculus course .. so i guess tht helped him

ur help wud be certainly appreciated.

hmm…this is a tough one…If it were me, I would work for a semester then go into Cal for Spring 10 while taking 3-5 units in a CC near by (maybe online)

Best of luck to you and your bro!

He should do whatever he is planning on doing in the fall and also take CC classes to bring his units up to 70. When he gets to Cal in the spring he will only have 50 to go. He can graduate in 3 semesters at Cal, which is totally doable, what with summer school and DeCal courses and all.

Loopy- we know someone who had the exact same decision a few years ago (between ucla and spring cal), and she chose the school that fit her best. She moved to berkeley for the fall, and found a student apt to live, took a few cc classes, then started in the spring. Today she is getting her phd for free at an ivy, so I would say it went pretty well for her…

your brother has 2 great options, there isn’t a wrong answer; just the one that fits him best. Some suggestions for looking deeper at both options- have him look at the course catalog for both campuses and the courses in his dept, and look at the major requirements. Look at the dept websites and faculty profiles in his major. Perhaps some courses will be exciting to him…perhaps googling the profs will yield a common academic interest.

Well, he hasnt been admitted to any particular major.
He has been admitted to the school of Letters and science and arts.
So i guess he is open to each and every major possible.
But, hes now going to speak to the counsellor, and ask her to let him take fall semester @ UCB.
But idk if she would let him take some randy classes @ UCB.
