UCLA or NYU??

Hey guys,
i got accepted to UCLA and NYU gls. few things to know about my dilemma...
1. NYU gls is a new program with 160 students or so. my classes will be small so i will reap the benefits of close contact with professors. UCLA does not offer such contact..
2. UCLA is a "better" school especially since the GLS program is brand new and i would be the inaugural class if i do decide to go to GLS. there is that risk of deciding to attend, and ending up in a terrible program (though it sounds amazing according to the website).
3.I plan on going into law school and NYU has a superior program to UCLA's (i'm not even sure if UCLA has a reputable law school while NYU's is ranked 5th!) and i want to be able to build close relationships with professors(since class sizes are small) so that i can have a leg up in applying to nyu law later.
4.MONEY. UCLA is no doubt, much cheaper than living in nyc attending NYU.
5. i love NYC and all my friends are going to college on the east coast, i've never been to LA and no one is going there.

considering the pros and cons of both schools, i'm having a really hard time deciding between the two...i'm still waiting for columbia but i doubt i will get in... though that would solve all my problems lol. some heartfelt suggestions/words of advice would really help!

visit UCLA and then see if that helps you make a choice.

also i think reason #4 is a very compelling reason to go to ucla, especially since people from ucla are at no disadvantage for competitive law schools. However, you should note that OOS students have a substantially higher fee than instate students so the difference might not be enough to justify JUST basing your decision on #4.

(btw, ucla DOES have a law school, and it’s supposedly very good)

UCLA law school has for a long time been ranked between #13 and #17. It is just outside the coveted “T-14” which refers to the 14 law schools that have ever been ranked Top 10.

Are you OOS for UCLA? If so, the price savings over NYU will only be about $11,000 per year.

sounds to me like you want to be at NYU…

What’s GLS?
