UCLA or UC Berkeley for Biology (maybe pre-med)?? I'd appreciate your help!

I've heard that UCLA actually has better bio, and more internship opportunities than Berkeley, but I also here that Berkeley is better... i'm so confused.

Please help me. I need to decide soon

Which UC, LA or Berkeley, is better to prepare me for bio/pre-med?

Have you visited both?

Berkeley has a better biological sciences reputation than UCLA, but Berkeley can be pretty brutal for weeding out premeds...young impressionable minds with dreams of becoming doctors are quickly dashed when they have their ass handed to them in Chem 1A.

OK, I borrowed that line from kenf in another thread, but I thought it was pretty funny - and pretty accurate

Click on the link below to see the Medical School statistics for UCLA PreMeds. These numbers are a couple of years old, but they show that UCLA grads are very successful at getting into all of the top medical schools.

You have to go where you think you'd be happiest. Both will give you good preparation for bio/pre-med.

Use the AAMC source and put in the undergraduate institution, you can see the acceptance rate to medical school from UG institution.
