UCLA or UCB Regents?

I seriously can't decide. I was at Bruin Day last Saturday and loved UCLA a lot, but I also really like Cal, and the Regents' scholarship only increases the attractiveness of Cal's offer. (I visited Cal two years ago and will be visiting again this weekend.)

I will be majoring in Ecological Biology at UCLA (though I probably will change that) and Integrative Biology at Cal. I'll be pre-med.

I would really appreciate your opinion on which school I should choose, and reasons why. Please avoid stereotypes. Thanks!

Did you happen to stop by and chat with the lovely students at the Chemistry and Biochemistry table at Bruin Day?

Would you like to eventually volunteer at a hospital or shadow a doctor? UCLA has a great hospital. Berkeley doesn’t. But since Berkeley’s offering you Regents, that’s cool, too. I would probably go where it would be less expensive. You can do the thing with your gut feeling when you visit Berkeley again during the weekend.

I am waitlisted at UCLA so selfishly I’d say Cal to open up a space, but truly think Cal is awesome for STEM.
The Regents money is great, but the privileges seem even better and having Regents sure looks good for grad school/jobs etc.
You can’t make a bad choice. I’m sure you will love either school.
Good luck

Phospholipase, my cost for attending either school will be roughly the same, so it’s all up to which school I like better.

Thanks to both of you for your advice! I’ll see what I think when I visit this weekend!

UCB Regents. This shouldn’t be that difficult of a choice unless you’re enamored by UCLA or something (I wouldn’t blame you if you were, I picked UCLA over Cal as well). ;)

Dang congrats in regents man! I was offered the interview for it and was turned down, but if I had been in your shoes now I told myself Berkeley all the way. Way too many benefits to give up! But alas with no regents UCLA is calling my name now

eh i got UCLA Regents and UCB Regents, probably going to UCB though cuz EECS major…

One important factor is also UCLA is on quarter system, UCB - Semester.
I’d also caution you to base your opinion on just one visit at any school. Keep an open mind and then weigh your options. Remember college is what you make of it. Did you try going to Overnight visits at the two school?
