UCLA or UCSD for Computer Science (PhD)?

UCLA has more prestige, but UCSD seems to be an up and coming CS school that could soon surpass UCLA (their facilities were also a lot nicer looking).

I have great profs to work with at both schools. UCLA guaranteed funding is for 2yrs and UCSD funding is for 1yr. The UCSD prof seemed nicer but I am more inclined toward the UCLA professor's research. One student of the UCLA prof made the comment that he feels he doesn't receive the help he needs... a red flag? Though this prof is supposedly an awesome teacher and his other grad student loves him. I got a better overall feeling after visiting UCSD, but I am tempted to go to UCLA because it seems more prestigious... I also get the feeling that UCSD's CS in general is better than UCLA's......

Any help is appreciated.

Get off the prestige issue and go for the program that fits you best. UCLA has little or nothing over UCSD.

Find out about what your options are if UCSD doesn’t fund you your second year (try asking current grad. students.) Trust me, that at the end of the day, that’ll matter a lot more than fit.
