Which of these two schools has a better engineering program?

In specific, which engineering majors?

Overall, UCSD is a little better but it is close. (US news)

Electrical and Aerospace

UCLA used to be ranked higher, in engineering, a couple years back, but UCSD has overtaken UCLA by several notches! It is truly an up and coming school!

At present, UCSD is ranked 8 places higher than UCLA by US News and World Report (FOR ENGINEERING). For the “OVERALL” ranking, UCLA is still a couple notches higher than UCSD.

Besides that, the Jacobs School of Engineering at UCSD, is now ranked 9th in the world!!!

However, that said, a school is more than simply numbers! I, myself, am an EE major. My first choice is Berkeley, and my second choice is UCLA, but that is only because I live in LA. I would say it’s a “tossup” between these 2 schools. IMHO, as far as academics go (in the engineering dept), they are pretty much equally good. Your choice should be based on other factors such as: Do you want to live closer to home?? Which campus atmosphere do you like better?? Do you want to be at a school where the competition is much more cuttthroat (UCLA) ??..and so on.
