I'm a texas resident and have many friends going to UT. However, I really liked the UCLA campus and atmosphere and was set on going there if i got in. Now I'm having doubts over moving so far away and whether or not the extra money is really worth it since UT isn't really that bad of a choice (it's ranked 52 in US World News and Report). Any ideas?

While UCLA has the edge, both are great schools and will probably get you where you want to go (assuming you're not looking to go into entertainment or anything). It's up to YOU to decide whether it's worth the out-of-state tuition. FWIW, I think UT, at 52, is way underrated.

Keep in mind that you haven't applied to either college yet. You might not get into UCLA, especially from out-of-state, so don't get your hopes up yet. What major are you applying under?

Yeah if I were you just be smart and apply to both. You can make the difficult decision of picking one if you get into both. And I think UT will be moving up in the rankings this year.

I haven't decided on a major yet...still undecided. But, I'm not looking to go into entertainment to answer your question.
