Hello everyone,
Well i am on my Junior Year in High School and i am looking for college to apply to. Since i live near Seattle (30 min) i would like to go ti UW. I still am not sure what i want to study, but i am thinking about Medicine (Doctor or Vet. So far i am getting around 1800-1900 in SAT but i have a 3.2 as my GPA, so i am a bit worried about if ill get in or not. So i was wondering, will getting in to UW be easier as a freshmen or as a junior that spent 2 years in a community college? Also i really want to go and study at UCLA and i was thinking that if i dont get accepted to UW as a freshmen i could do 1 year of community college in Seattle, 1 year of community college in California and then apply to UCLA. Would that be a good Idea? (The reason i would go to a community college in Seattle is so that i could still be able to stay at home with my parent and i wont have to pay rent)
UCLA will likely cost you 35 to 55k per year so that is a pretty bad option compared with CC==>UW. Also you have other good schools in WA, medical schools/vet schools will not care where you go, but that you have fantastic grades and MCAT.
You won’t get into UCLA as a freshman, and you would likely do a minimum of two years at a California community college before transferring unless you have a great deal of AP credits. If you want to contribute to the California tax base, go for it. I have many friends who are in California CCs, CSUs, and UCs so your spending money on the same quality of education as you can get at the University of Washington for much less money is always appreciated.
Are you considering Washington State University or Western?
As stated above, this decision may have already been made for you, e.g. lower SAT. You will have to be all-in if you are going to try and crack a UC via the CC route in Cali. Thus, make sure that’s really what you want to do…
