I will be attending orientation on july 9th and am wondering if i should bring a laptop. Also, if i do bring a laptop i would probably bring a backpack to carry my laptop and the papers they give out. Is this a good idea? I appreciate any input from the people who went to the first orientation. Also, i sent my final transcripts in a couple of weeks ago, but myucla doesn't show them as being recieved. Should I be worried?

Take it! They give you a small bag you can use but it’s hardly big enough to fit your laptop. It is convenient though.

And no, you should not be worried. If you don’t get your finalized DPR by orientation, check up on URSA once UCLA has received all your transcripts. It’s pretty self-explanatory.

you gotta bring your laptop since the only and most important thing you will do at orientation is finding classes to enroll. With a computer, you will get the live update from all the courses with exact number of already enrolled students. They have print out for all classes but they dont update every often… A computer will help you more than people there imo since you will be doing all the choosing and planning. *sigh

Yes, bring your laptop. No, don’t worry about the transcripts. On the day of your orientation, if you check MyUCLA you’ll realize that they’ve magically been received. If you’re really worried, you can bring official sealed copies and your orientation counselor will make sure they get inputted before your meeting with him or her. Otherwise, bring unofficial transcripts - even if it shows that UCLA received them. They take a while to get everything finalized. In fact, my DPR wasn’t complete until 3:00 pm the day of my orientation.

Definitely take a laptop.

They advise you to take a laptop on the orientation website, so yeah definitely take it
