I got there at 11:30a, like right when my group was preparing to leave for lunch. And I didn't miss much... if anything. All in all, the orientation is worth the 125, I had a few things cleared up for me, and everyone was super.

Were there a lot of people at orientation? I got session 204 and I’m worried about getting the classes I want. None of the ones I want are half full yet but I still worry.

i think for some majors they save spots by increasing the course capacity slowly…at least that’s what my English counselor told me they did for english courses… so as orientation goes on…they will open more seats for the classes

i agree…came late…didnt miss anything. do come before 12 so you dont miss lunch with your group

Is there breakfast? I’ll show up at 7:30 if there’s food.

What time did it end?

Do I really need to bring a laptop?

how can i plan my day to effectively avoid the greatest number of people?

Dude, you’re going to UCLA, is that a realistic goal?

There was sth to eat in the morning but not much… basically, the orientation is a waste of time besides that you get to reg for classes…it would be better if you bring a laptop along, so you can look n search for class schedules…

Glad I didn’t sign up for orientation. Unfortunately the 97 class I wanted already filled up =\ I just hope my other classes don’t fill up.

i second that.

I ended up not making it yesterday, and I was still able to register for classes last night.

what about the degree progress reports? or i guess most of you are coming from community colleges and already know what satisfies what.

any of you CSU people find orientation helpful?

very helpful, definitely go. you don’t need to get there until 11:30, blah blah blah. BRING YOUR LAPTOP, this will make things much easier.

Ya I think the most important part is bringing a laptop. When your counselor tells you to take a different class than you anticipated, you scramble and all the computer labs are full so you have to wait in line. Also bring a water bottle. Lot of walking on the hill.

um, I just printed out a list with a bunch of classes I liked the night before, including back-ups that were nowhere near full and i was fiiiiiiiiiiine like wiiiiiiiiine.

i second bringing the water bottle. bring two.

It was pretty lame in my opinion, definitely a fat waste of time and money. I got there at 7am (traffic was good, go figure), and stayed till 8:30pm. I was tired the entire time since I don’t normally wake up at 5am, though I did eat a nice breakfast so hunger wasn’t an issue. My group was LAAAME. The OC was ok, but… nah he was lame too, but he was a nice guy, so I’ll give him a pass.

I should have just driven down there at a decent hour and walked around campus, which is all I really wanted to do anyway. I could have done it while awake and fully alert and without lugging around my friggin’ backpack w/ laptop.

The only positive was that I enrolled in classes. And I saw some cute girls, but they were giving tours to high school kids so they were probably 17 which makes me a bad person, except in some states.

^ hahahhaha
so things to bring.

laptop

2bottles of water

some alcohol. to pass the time

btw, only incoming freshmen do testing right?

Where do I meet everybody if I am coming at 11:30?

I personally think you all should go.

I had a six hour drive down to LA and got to my hotel at 2 in the morning. I then woke up at 6 to get everything together and arrive at 7:30. Needless to say, I was very tired…

But also very excited!

Anyhow, I met a ton of cool people and got some really good info. I had a ton of questions relating to my Math/Econ major which all got answered. My OC was a chill guy and my group was full of very nice people. I definitely look forward to taking classes with them and forming study groups. I also got to know some people outside my orientation group who I will probably hang with in the Fall.

Although I had to get there at an ungodly hour, I think it was worth it.
