I got something about it in the mail today! Who'd going? :)

Anyone who's gone in the past know what you do there? I know I'm going, but I'm curious as to what the day is all about and what we do. I feel like most of the info on the pamphlet was for for freshman.

You talking about the AAP thing?

Noooope, the actual new student orientation that has a bunch of different dates we can register for in June

Dude it’s mandatory so everyone has to sign up
It’s when you pick your classes and what not

^
That was horrible, LOL.

And Orientation isn’t mandatory, I almost didn’t attend.

we have to pay like $100…

Tiffany, if you don’t attend orientation, what’s the alternative? When/how do you register?

Basically you have to state your excuse and then sign up manually after all the Orientation dates if I’m not mistaken (because of course, UCLA wants your money) by emailing your professors and getting PTE numbers (if needed). I don’t recommend it, but I know some international students who got it done this way. Orientation is wayyy too long in my opinion. :

Ugh. This financial thing is really stressing me out. Is there anyway to get a fee waiver?

^
Absolutely not! I will say this many times more (I already have said it): UCLA wants to take every penny from you. I applied for that fee waiver and only got a maximum of 50% taken off. The funny thing is they didn’t charge me for Orientation until like…October, so I thought I was home free, lol.

If you all have any more questions, I’ll be on the other thread. I get confused, and these last couple of weeks of the quarter are going to be super stressful for me so when I do come on, I’ll go only to that thread.

Wait, so if we don’t want to got to orientation and pay that fee we’re at a disadvantage in terms of signing up for Fall Quarter?
