I applied for UCLA and I know that the UC's are really selective with choosing out of state applicants given that 90% of the kids admitted are from California because they have these a-g courses. I am out of state but I have found no information on how to calculate my GPA using the courses I took my 10th-11th grade year. Is there anyway I can see which courses that Ive taken satisfy the a-g and calculate my GPA?

40% of UCLA undergrads are not from CA. The standards have slackened somewhat. Ask the counselor to calculate your UC GPA. This is roughly what they do.

1)Neglect Phy Ed, Wood, etc. classes
2)All basic classes are 4=A to 0=F
3)AP, 11th grade honors, IB are 5=A to 1=D and 0=F

Finally, average it.

OP’s gotten his answer, but now I want to ask something for a friend (a junior) who’s decided he really wants to go to UCLA…

What’s the average GPA for a white, out-of-state, admitted applicant at UCLA? What would you all consider the “cutoff” ahah? As in “If it’s lower than this, you may as well not bother.”

I’m pretty sure the UC’s are trying to get some more out of states.
