ucla out of state?

how hard is it for someone out of state (texas) to get into ucla? and how is the financial aid for out of state students?

Well it’s not easy. Here’s the data from 2009:

[Profile of Admitted Freshmen, Fall 2009 - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/Prospect/Adm_fr/Frosh_Prof09.htm)

Of the total enrolled freshmen class of 4,472 only 336 were from out of state.

i want to make sur i get into ucla
okay pepes my GPA is a 3.5 im a sophomore i have no ap classes yet but i will have two next year i did 5 hours of community service and was rewarded by the national health department i was in the junior cadet class i love reading political science books and love tennis do i have a chance from now oh yeah i was ranked 176 out of 1376 freshman’s also African American

Jadagirl,
Im not sure how the others all stacked up, but I’d say you have a shot with the ranking and national award but im not sure…You def need to be in adv. classes.

I got accepted this year and did horrible on my standarized test…I had a 25 on my ACT n an 1580 on my SAT…but I had amazing essays…here’s my stats
GPA(5.0 weighted): 5.10
GPA(4.0 unweighted) 4.0
Ranking: 6/127
Activites: Student Council President, Junior and Senior Class President, National Honor Society Vice-President, Spanish Club, UIL-Editorial Writing, Journalism(reporter/advice columnist), Varsity Tennis all 4 years, JV and Varsity Cheerleading, Student Government(for a community college), DECA(national alternate in 11th and state competitor in 12th, current officer), PALS, and Church youth group.

Academics: Academic sweater recipient, honor classes: english, history, spanish, science, math(9th and 10th); College classes(dual credit): english, history, and math(11th), english and government in 12th(my math basics are already fulfilled)

and 2016…the financial aid is based off of how high an income your parents get…lik my efc is 19061 and im getting nothing really…but i got a 1400 dollar scholarship for turning it in before the deadline…

your 5.1 GPA must have made up for your sat

Probably…i used my additional comment box to talk about how we arent taught to be prepared for the sat or act…we are taught for our state tests which cover a different curriculum and i get commended on all of them every year (which means i only can miss up to 4 out of 60ish)…so that probably helped too…and i had really strong essays, am an all a student while taking college and honor courses and the whole president stuff helps too.

If you need financial aid - don’t even bother. Go somewhere else.
