I already paid my deposit at NYU ($1500 yikes!) and got in off appeal at UCLA. Does anyone have any advice or information on where I should go.
I am an Northeast kid so NYU is a lot closer but also a lot more expensive. Both are at full tuition and I’m OOS at UCLA. I am freaking out right now so some help would be much appreciated. Culturally I would love to live in the West for a while but I feel like I would most likely live in the Northeast (or NorCal possibly). I don’t want to to do finance, I’d most likely want to do International or Global Business and try some entrepreneurial type stuff or work for a startup. Thanks.
I’d just stick with NYU to be honest. Seems simpler
–So UCLA is a savings of what, maybe $8000 per year, after lost deposit and yearly airfare? Is that about right?
–Any grad school plans?
You are right about the cost I guess. I could possibly go to law school but as of now I don’t think I would be seeking a graduate degree. Really I am just curious about UCLA culture if you are familiar with that. I have spent a lot of time in the bay area but never SoCal. My parents are very biased against UCLA but I want to give both a fair shake since I think they are wrong about UCLA in many aspects. They assume I wouldn’t be comfortable there and that the culture wouldn’t gel with me, and they might be right but I don’t know.
This thread is older but it might help, particularly post #71: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-california-los-angeles/900065-you-chose-ucla-over-berkeley-p5.html
“Culture” is a broad concept. What is it that you want to know in particular about UCLA culture, versus NYU?
UCLA is a competitive/rigorous school, but generally speaking, I think it’s known for its social/laid-back atmosphere. It’s a large, vibrant, diverse place, so most student “types” can find their niche.
Try posting a question in the UCLA forum, but be specific for better responses.
