Hey guys! I am new to this forum, sorry if I wrote a bit to much. =/
Basically, I am transferring to a UC after my 3rd year of CC.

Let me know how I can become a better applicant, if I do in fact have a slight chance of even getting accepted to LA, and any advice you can give me. I would really truly appreciate it! Thanks guys! =]

that C may hurt you especially in a pre-req class. However, you do have a great upward trend. Start writing your personal statement soon, like during the summer.

Try getting a 4.0 for this term, summer term and fall term. Get all A’s from now on, no B’s!

If you do all that, you have a chance. Get a 3.8 by the end of fall term.

Also try applying to Berkeley psych as well. TAG to at least one school like uc davis, UC Irvine.

the major’s very competitive, and so are its admits. A friend of mine got accepted into the psych major, and she transferred in with a 4.0 while working. She’s told me about it and it seems pretty rigorous. I’d say you have the fact that you’ve been working 3 jobs since you’re 15 in your favor (way in your favor) and you should definitely milk that, in your personal statement. Maybe even go as far to say that your upward trend has been a direct result of your love for psychology.

that being said, i don’t want to give you false hope. Your stats look good, but UCLA has MANY competitive applicants who probably have similar backgrounds as yours. My advice is just do your best to keep your GPA as high as you can.

Pinoiako916: Thanks for the advice! I got the C my first semester. It was an intro to biology class…however over fall I will be taking “General Biology I”…So, hopefully if I do well then I might have a chance. As of right now, I have a 4.0 this semester. I have finals starting tomorrow and I am on the borderline in one class, but I am trying very hard to maintain a 4.0 for the next 3 semesters. I am also applying to UCB, UCD (TAG) & UCSD (TAG, Sociology) as well. I am pretty much guaranteed a spot at Davis and San Diego.

beyphy: Thanks for the reply! Psychology is very competitive. Honestly, the only thing that will get me in at this point might be my personal statement. I am going to write it over summer and hopefully have it proof read. Thank you again and best wishes for the future.

W’s shouldn’t matter and I’m pretty sure academic renewal doesn’t hurt you either. Do you have TAP by any chance? It might improve your chances. But your application looks pretty solid to me.

xViral: Thanks for replying! Currently I am taking 7 classes, and finals this week are going pretty well. I have a very good chance of getting a 4.0 this semester! Our school does not offer TAP, unfortunately. It’s a bit of a bummer. Academic removal is only for D’s & F’s, right?

I got into psych well below the average admit GPA without TAG. So make sure your personal statements are golden, because it obviously worked for me.

USN_Transfer: Thanks for letting me know! I heard a rumor earlier this semester, but I thought it wasn’t true! I have no idea which school I’ll TAG for.

Ella89: Thanks for the reply. Congrats, what school will you be attending this Fall? Also, what were your stats?

Pinoiako916: Thanks! UCLA? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? IT’S ALWAYS BEEN MY DREAM SCHOOL SINCE I WAS LITTLE! I really hope UCLA admissions really sees something in my application that stands out… =]
You transferred to UCLA with what major?
