I am seriously considering changing my major from History to Psychology before transferring. My top 2 choices right now are UCB and UCLA.

Downsides are:
-They are impacted majors at both
-I am interested in Jungian Psychology, which is not taken seriously by most psych departments.

Psych is much harder to get into than history. (History is my minor,so based on prereq classes alone, I found psych to be harder) When are you transferring? If you just got in, don’t **** with the system. Wait. If not, go nuts! But remember you have to stay competitive.

Oh and Carl Jung. ROFL Its all about Psychobio these days

I’m considering minoring in either chem or bio to help me prepare for pharmacy school.

can’t wait to apply next year!

for the chemistry requirement, on assist.org it says that it’s equivalent to one year of high school chemistry with a “C” or better. i got a c/b. if i decide to not take another chem class, would i be less competitive? what do you guys recommend?

kirbs90 - I would definitely recommend you taking chemistry because I just got rejected from UCLA for that reason. I finished all prerequisites and igetc with As and Bs, but I forgot to list that I took chemistry in HS. When I called and asked why I wasn’t accepted they said that I was missing the chemistry prerequisite, but I explained that I took it in HS, they replied that they didn’t know that and I should appeal. Another reason why you should take a chemistry class is because it is a required prerequisite in other UCs. So if you don’t get into UCLA your chances of getting into another UC would be better. I regret not taking it CCC, otherwise, I would look more like a competitive candidate.

thanks christiana!

or you can just tell them you took HS chem like i did and save yourself some trouble lol. I put it on my app and sent them an e-mail just to make sure with the grade update. they don’t need to know your grade, just that you completed it.

oh nice. i’m assuming you got in. what are your stats!

BerkeleyorBust, I’m pretty sure that they won’t allow that. Everything I have read says that if you want to do Psych you have to be admitted as pre-Psych, and you can’t switch. Hopefully, I’m wrong though.

I want to minor in so many subjects! I would love to do music, but I’m pre-med too so I know there are other minors that would better prepare me for that
