So this other day, my friend went to see a counselor to ask her transfer questions. Her counselor suggests that she should stay a 3rd year at cc because she will not complete "most" of her major prerequisites by the time she applies this fall (by the time she applies she will finish 7 out of 12 semesters). The counselor told her that she needed to finish "most" of her major prerequisite classes by this summer. I've always thought that you only need to finish most or all of your major prerequisites during the spring before you transfer. So I went on to the ucla website to see what they have to say about this and I found this.

Some majors are highly selective. For these majors we look for stronger prepararation: most preparatory courses completed before transferring and a significant number of courses completed at the time of application.

My question is how much is "a significant number of courses completed at the time of application?"

I am planning to apply as a biochem major for ucla this fall. If everything goes according to my plan, I will finish 1 year of physics, 1 year of general chem, and 1.5 years of calc by this summer. I will only have 1 year of bio and 1 year of ochem left to finish during my second year at cc. By the time I transfer, I will finish all of my major prereq's and igetc. When I apply for ucla in nov, are my completed courses "a significant number of courses completed?" Or am I over thinking this? Thanks in advance.
