Hey, if I received an AP Bio score of let's say 3, and UCLA takes 3-5 for Bio, do they give the same credit? or just more credit for 3 and 5s. Should I try to take it again next year, since I was new to the format.

Earning a 3 is the same as earning a 5 in terms of credit. Do not retake it.

Okay, so how does a 3 differentiate from a 5 not in terms of credit? Thanks for th reply

There’s no difference. The only thing you can use (most) AP classes for is empty credits, so just passing will do!

Exceptions: Calc AB/BC can get you placement in math, 4/5s in lit/lang can exempt you from the Writing I (English Composition) requirement, and you can petition out of Chem 20A with a 4 or 5 in AP Chem if it’s required for your major and you don’t need to take chem classes beyond that.

Higher scores in foreign languages should give you something too if you’re planning on being in L&S. I think they have a foreign language requirement.
