okay i think i may be screwed for my chances at UCLA.. i was just on the ucla website and i read "*To be considered for this major, all of the preparatory courses listed here must be completed by the spring before transfer. *"

i haven't done calculus 2 and i plan on doing it this summer. so i should just completely give up hopes for ucla now and move on since its business econ.. =/ sigh..

peppamintt what are your stats?

uh, sweetnezz let’s hope the OP gets in. I believe in miracles, and luck. Now it’s april 8, and as days move along the more nervous I feel. specially after reading this article on the LA TIMES about that for freshmans it was a rough year. Lots of qualified students got rejected and that is so unfair. I hope we don’t live this destiny. seems to me this has been the toughest year for us students. Let’s hope for all the best.

“I believe in miracles…” is far more condemning than “ehhhhh uh oh :-(”

peppamint, you know the answer to that question… you’re at a disadvantage, yeah… but anything is possible.

i hope miracles happen!

i had a complicated record. my first year i started off at a good school, which was out of state, but then i had to come back as my mom fell really sick so i had to move back to stay and take care of her! which is why my GPA for my first semester was 3.40, and secon 3.44. but then everything got better and i started concentrating on schoolwork (wasn’t commuting 3 hours a day to go to school!) my fall 08 gpa was 3.83 and im expecting a 4.0 or 3.91 for this semester.

but after my fall update my GPA became 3.64 (not that great) but i couldn’t help it and i explained that on my application, hoping they read it.

otehr than that i work an internship and a job. im an assistant basketball coach at an elementary school and mentor young girls at danger.

all prereqs done! and im awesome =D jk… but i had good essays

help me! i love ucla =(

Blind hope, miracles, luck? Who do you think is reviewing applications and making pre-requisite rules, god?

Historically, UCLA applicants missing pre-reqs are not offered admission. I myself didn’t even bother applying to UCLA because I’d be missing ONE pre-req, despite my 3.8 GPA. Go figure.

you’re screwed for LA but maybe you’ll get into berkeley.

this person applied last year but got into cal
"3.78
TAP certified
IGETC complete
Missing 1 pre-req for UCLA though which I think was the big negative

Rejected UCLA business econ
Accepted Berkeley econ"

edit: heres another one

"I can’t believe this… I am simultaneously confused, sad, and disheartened. BUT most of all… ****ed.

GPA: 4.0
Major: Business Economics (Pre)
Essay: 8.5-9.5/10
- TAP Certified
- IGETC Certified (AA Degree)
- AGS
- Regents

…

Rejected.

Missing one pre-req due to a counselor’s (mis)guidance. I’m not even planning to appeal because UCLA has effectively destroyed any of their remaining allure in my eye"

and another one but i think you’re getting the picture:

“Rejected on 4/23
UCLA
4.0
Biz Econ
No TAP
Missing 1 prereq (Calc II)”

yea, you have %0 chance. literally. i know someone who was missing a prereq for bus econ and got rejected even though he had a 4.0 AND tap.

so i guess anything can’t happen…

Wow. That actually hurt to read. Poor guy/chick. :/

interesting… im screwed! great.

peppamint? definitely a guy… no question.

what do we need calc 2 for anyways? its not like im gona be drawing hyperbolic functions in econ class…

so by “missing 1 pre-req”, they mean that the person doesnt have the pre-req done by the end of spring, right?

Actually, you probably will. Upper-division classes are calculus-based.

chibi, that’s right.

i was just bein sarcastic… but 1 pre req miss should be allowed i think lol
