oh okay, just checking… lol :D

So do I, but they have this rule because tons and tons (and tons) of people apply to UCLA. Many of them complete ALL pre-reqs, so do you still believe that?

i think it matters more for crazy impacted classes like bizecon since they have an overload of qualified applicants apply with all of their prereqs done.

For non impacted majors is missing one pre-req for Philosophy at UCLA that bad?

but they should see the circumstances behind the missing prereq. like it was hard for me to be able to take calc 1 before this semester.

peppamint, all that they see is that prospective students have 1.5 years to get their classes in order.

I <3 Cougars, I am a philosophy major. See post #7.

^ think before you talk / post / write / etc.

agree with the above posts… UCLA is the most strict of all the UC’s about having completed your pre-reqs…hope you have back ups.

thats why i find it unfair for those who have prereqs done and get rejected, but not that many. I sure still hope peppamintt gets admitted though. I am also waiting for merced and they haven’t accepted me yet. they really get me upset

give it a rest with UC Merced. lol

chibi I HAVE NOT BEEN ACCEPTED STILL. ITS ALREADY APRIL. UCSB AND UCSD ACCEPTED ME CENTURIES AGO, SAY WHAT??? like before march 15. I THINK THESE MERCED OFFICIALS ARE ASLEEP WITH MY APPLICATION!

Merced shouldn’t even cross your mind considering you’re already in SB/SD.

it’s okay peppamint. i just double checked the prereqs for ucla econ because of this thread and i realized… i don’t meet them either. i don’t have 2 courses of calculus.

i’m taking calculus 2 at my school this semester because i was able to bring AP credit and skip calc 1 with a 4 on calculus AB.

however, for ucla, the first calculus class is only satisfied if you get a 5 on AB. so even though i’m in calc 2, i don’t have my first semester of calculus satisfied. sucks. now i wish i saw that and didn’t apply.

Hey, those of u concerned about pre-reqs, check out www.assist.org–like for my major, it says I can complete some of my classes after I transfer to UCLA. Hope this helps:)

Getyourownbox, I think you are fine with calculus, because I checked out the AP scores rewards for UCLA on their website and a 4 does certainly fulfill the first semester of calculus–here’s the link: https://www.admissions.ucla.edu/Prospect/APCreditLS.htm

i think for econ, they want math 31a and 31b, which is why on the econ transfer page they say you need a 5 on AB to get credit.

the site you linked says a 3-4 on AB gives you “calculus” while a 5 gives you math 31a. i guess right now i have “calculus” and math 31b, rather than 31a+31b. probably no chance. sigh. haha.

my UC application status:

Rejected UCSB: didnt meet requirements
Rejected UCLA(im sure): one missing pre-req
Dont’ care about UCB
UCI… bring me good news…
USC… i love u… will u let me into ur wonderful world of business education! =/

peppamintt, whats your major? I got into UCI two weeks ago with a slightly lower gpa than you…Im sure you can get into there at least…Im not missing any pre-reqs for UCLA BUT I wont have the 60 units completed by Spring. However, UCLA emailed me asking me for an estimate on my Spring classes about a week ago…I guess I can still have hope. Dont give up just yet either. aaandd I’m also waiting on USC, but my sister is going to NYU next year and I’m sure NYU tuition + USC tuition is not gonna fly in my house :[[[[[…

hey kristie… tahts what scares me a little coz i havent heard at all from ucla… like ucsb said i didnt have enough units… i had 59… what if thats for ucla and im missing one… they’ll probably just throw my application =P ill have 63 units by end of spring…

Yeah, just agreeing with everyone in the thread. Sorry bro you’re probably screwed cause UCLA bus econ is super strict on pre reqs.

Oh and, upper div econ here you WILL BE USING CALCULUS. However, you only need to know how to do derivatives, derivatives, and more derivatives (marginal revenue is the derivative of total revenue, marginal cost is the derivative of total cost). Calculus 2 I don’t remember **** from it and it doesn’t matter.
