ucla ranking?

no i have not been to Brown. actually i didnt even know about Brown until after i applied to colleges. obviously u r obessessed about brown. im obsessed about ucla so lets just leave it at that.

"Most people consider UCB, Michigan and UVa to be the best public institutions in U.S."
like i said, "best" is hardly the same for everyone. anyways if u wanna look at public institutions. ucla ranks 4th behind all these 3 "best"

alwaysthere:

That was just the tip of the iceberg. What about Harvey Mudd, Cal Poly SLO, and other schools which specifically and successfully produce CS/EE grads for Oracle? Why aren't they on the recruitment list? The burden of proof is on you, and until you deliver, I'm calling shenanigans...

UCLAri, the proof I used is no more anecdotal than those secret conversations you had with some nobody in DC Anyway you are right at it is not conclusive, I was just poking some fun. But in SV, USC is at least on the same level with UCLA, if not higher.

Some nobody in DC, huh? Yeah, I guess a director at the NSC is a nobody. I guess a senator is a nobody. I guess people at Brookings, Woodrow Wilson, and other prestigious think tanks are nobodies. All have said that UCLA is a top school and nothing to scoff at. But what do they know, they're "nobodies."

I chose UCLA over Brown, although i admit that Brown is the better school academically. I chose LA for the location, social scene, price, and other less academic factors.

"I chose UCLA over Brown, although i admit that Brown is the better school academically."

that was my point :)

Whatever.

Academic quality on the whole is completely subjective and although there are many ways to quantify it from multitudes of angles (research output, professor citations, admissions selectivity, financial compensation of grads), the fact is that it's entirely too large of a subject -- and UCLA and Brown are frankly too close academically -- that forming a definitive "x school is academically better than y school" would be premature.

They're both great schools.

hey USC people:

hey look, UCLA is higher.....

Thanks for the unwarranted flame. Breaking news too.

You can go run along now goGauchos. Grownups care about more important things.

hey its just a reminder

Come on could everyone just keep out credentials out of threads, I'm tired of people saying I did this and that and then the president told me this and that.Am I supposed to take everyone's supposed credentials at face value. Not a direct shot at you UCLAri but its been a trend lately.

I don't blame him. He didn't mention the (impressive to say the least) credentials of his associates until they were challenged.

I don't blame you at all. I'm just tired of being told, "oh, you just mingle with nobodies in DC, you plebe." Ugh. People need to get their heads out of their...
