Hi everyone!

Four more days to submit your Regents application, two more days until UCLA releases their admissions decisions! Get excited!

Feel free to post your stats that led to you receiving the Regents application! When UCLA releases their decisions, comment again with whether or not you got in. And if you get the Regents scholarship later, post that as well!

Also, feel free to ask questions about the scholarship!

Got the Regents Invite!

Major: Political Science
GPA: 4.0
IGETC: Completed Spring 2016.
Prereqs: All completed except for Statistics, which is basically only offered at UCLA.
ECs: 8.5/10
Essays: 9.5/10.
Hooks: Honestly, my essay was great. I had a UCLA rep critique it, a few professors, and many friends and family. Besides that, I’m pretty involved on campus (Pres. of a large club; debate; in a fraternity; etc.)

One year transfer! :slight_smile:

Thanks for making this thread @solostish!

Major: Pre-Psychology
GPA: 3.93 when applied.
IGETC: Completing this semester.
Prereqs: Completed.
ECs: probably 7/10
Essays: I would say 9/10.
Hooks: I really think it’s my essays that did it also since I don’t have a 4.0. I know it’s not my ECs either because I’m sure a lot of people had a lot more than me.

What do you guys think the chances are of us getting the decisions this Friday with the deadline for the regents application being on Sunday?

I’ve personally seen some people from previous year’s threads who got the invite and didn’t get accepted and I’m pretty sure that’s because two separate committees choose who gets the invites and who gets accepted.

Major: Pre-Psychology
GPA: 4.0
IGETC: Completed Spring 2016
Prereqs: Completed Fall 2015
ECs: 8/10
Essays: 8/10.
Scholars/TAP Certified
Hooks: I personally think my essays were good, maybe not phenomenal, but several people read over them and said they were great. I think what will be beneficial to me is that I had a lot of EC’s (working, volunteering at a DV shelter[which is what I want to specialize in],etc)

Thanks for making the thread!
Major: Mechanical Engineering
GPA: 4.0
IGETC: Completed
Prereqs: All completed except for Differential Equation
ECs: 5/10
Essays: 6/10.

My ECs and Essay are not good at all. Very glad to receive the regent invite

I have a question, is the regents applicable to International students studying in the U.S?

@resonanx i don’t think so, regardless you would’ve received an email if you were invited to apply

@resonanx From my understanding, you must be a U.S. citizen.

@solostish @GirlPower1 thanks !

So I have a letter of rec from a professor, but he sent it to me via email, so it is not signed. Is this ok to submit for this application?

@POTUS2040 I’m assuming they do want it signed because they want it in a pdf format. But that’s just an assumption, it doesn’t say anywhere that it needs to be signed.

As long as the professors info is on there (title, email address, phone number and place of employment) like they asked, or on official paper it should be fine.

It is on official paper and has the information of the professor. Also if you look into the author of the PDF it will have his name. Hope this will be OK.

Did we all end up getting in? I did.

Has anyone submitted their regents application? I was just wondering if there is only one essay

@solostish I got in too

@solostish congrats!

Got in and submitted the essay, best of luck everyone :wink:

Got in and submitted!

I submitted mine as well. Just to make sure, there is only 2 essays right?

@PreMedSci16 where do you see two prompts?? It only gave me one essay prompt/the space to submit one
