Apparently, we should hear back in two weeks! Best of luck.
Submitting my essay in the coming hours.
Just submitted! I’m really not confident but still, good luck everyone!
Doesn’t matter anymore since I already submitted/can’t do anything about it, but did anyone else have their paragraphs and indentations disappear on the thank you/submitted page? like it all was a blob of text lol
Yeah everything combined into a blob of text.
It seems like most of us are saying we had only 1 essay, but the website (http://www.rssla.org/about/scholarship/) says that the Regents application consists of 2 short essays and a letter of rec…do you think they just haven’t changed this website, or was there some sort of glitch that prevented us from doing the second essay :-/
@asanabanana , nope! It’s only one essay. I checked with past Regents scholars.
Sorry guys, I meant to say one essay. I saw on the website that it says two essays but on my application there was only one prompt. I wanted to make sure It wasn’t just me that got one. It was a typo. Again, sorry for the confusion.
I sent in my application last night. I would really prefer to go to Berkeley, anyway - but I still wanted to submit my application, for obvious reasons. If I get into Berkeley, I will SIR there.
Anyway - I was invited, too, and here are my stats:
Overall GPA: 4.0
Major Pre-reqs Completed (Y/N): 3/4
Major: Philosophy
IGETC (Complete/Incomplete): Complete
Personal statements: Well-written, passionate, deeply honest. 8/10 - but maybe I’m too critical.
Extracurriculars: Chess Club VP, Philosophy Club, part-time job, studied under a philosophy professor at a university, etc.
Hooks: I took one of my major reqs at Berkeley and got an A. I’ve also taken 2/3 literature courses in a series required of English majors (definitely required for Cal, probably required for UCLA, but I’m not sure). I think that makes me a bit more interesting. Studying under a reputable philosophy prof is a positive, too.
Also, I wrote my Regents essay about wanting to go to law school, and applying an education in philosophy from UCLA (particularly in the philosophy of logic) toward law.
Surprised I got the invite, but here are my stats
SDSU —> UC
Overall and Major GPA: 3.98
Major: Computer Science
Prereq: Missing Gen chem
EC’s: Good (volunteering and part time work)
PS: 8.5/10
doe anyone know when we will know if we got Regents?
@TransferJ
I think the original email says mid may.
OMG!!!
I won the regents scholarship. I can’t believe it.
Forgot this thread existed, so I’ll repost what I posted on the UCLA thread.
Anyone hear back from Regents? I heard back this morning… and apparently I’m being offered Regent’s! I don’t believe it though I really feel like it’s a mistake? I called to confirm, but no one picked up.
If I did get it, take that Berkeley for not accepting me!
I forgot about this too ahah, I got the scholarship!
How did you guys hear?
Congratulations, y’all! I haven’t heard anything yet, but I’ve already SIR’d to Berkeley.
@PreMedSci16 @calivalleyyy @GirlPower1 Did you all find out through an email?
@ccAndronicus yeah, I got an email saying my PAL was updated and when I opened it there was a letter congratulating me and then it showed the award scholarship in my PAL
@GirlPower1 I think it’s safe to say that I got denied. Oh well. Congrats to everyone who received the scholarship!!!
