Just called UCLA scholarship office and asked when decisions for Transfer Regents Scholarship would be available. She said all decisions were made this morning, and decisions would be posted shortly. She said to check this evening online and it will be viewable.

Just curious, do you have to apply for the Regents separately or are you simply invited based on your app?

letters were sent out in January/February. I general requirement is a 4.0 GPA. You had to get the letter invitation to apply.

where will it be posted?

Did anyone else get a regents invite and apply get a pending admission decision like myself?

I called at 2:00 PM today and asked. The lady said that they JUST sent the letters. She said that 1000 people were invited, and 200 won. She said that you would get the letter by this week and that you would see it online after you get the letter.

I wonder why were getting totally different answers every time we call.

And wasn’t it 350 people who traditionally get the invite? That’s mentioned in the scholarship section of UCLA’s website.

No kidding about the different answers!! Do these people ever talk to each other? So they were sent snail mail not email??

check this out

Can anyone access their pal though? isnt that where you’re supposed to check?

Did anyone find out what’s going on with the scholarship

Ya, supposedly its through ePal, and I was told theyre updating that tonight…I guess not. Maybe not until 1am-6am when they close URSA, idk.

I just checked my financial aid and saw that I received the regents scholarship. This made my day, especially after I found out that I received the regents scholarship for UCSB the day before. In terms of stats…I have a 4.0 GPA and a ton of extracurricular activities.

ggnore, what’s your major? And what exactly does the scholarship provide?

Was it on your epal and if so where was it located?

I’m a political science major. In terms of financial aid, it covers all your financial need based off of FAFSA. I am receiving $26,466 because I have a low EFC through university grants and scholarships meaning I don’t have to take out loans.

jmason1689,

Yeah it was on my epal. As soon as I clicked on it, a screen with regents scholar opened up and I saw the following letter:

Dear ggnore,

On behalf of the University of California and the UC Board of Regents, I am extremely pleased to offer you a two-year Regents Scholarship to UCLA. The Regents Scholarship is the most prestigious scholarship for incoming UC freshmen, and the highest honor the Board of Regents can bestow upon a student at the University.

Of the record 55,665 students who applied for admission to UCLA for academic year 2009-2010, only a very small number were invited to compete for the Regents Scholarship. UCLA’s Academic Senate Committee on Honors, Awards and Prizes has selected you on the basis of your outstanding academic achievement and your demonstrated leadership ability. It is evident that you strive for excellence in and out of the classroom, and that you have the potential to distinguish yourself at UCLA as one of our best and brightest.

In the next few weeks, you will face the important and undoubtedly exciting decision of which college or university to attend a decision that will significantly affect your future. My colleagues and I hope that you will choose to pursue the next phase of your education at UCLA. We are confident that you are capable of reaching the heights of success as a member of our campus community.
Congratulations on your selection as a Regents Scholar, and welcome to UCLA!

Sincerely,

Mark Moldwin
Chair, Committee on Honor’s, Awards, and Prizes
Professor of Earth Space & Science
