UCLA Rejects Here!

how do you know you were rejected or not?

dude missing one prereq really changes your odds. that what it seems like with some of your stats

@ pink

If i were you, i’d try an appeal anyways…what do you have to loose by appealing?

I didn’t get in to UCSD even though I got admitted by UCLA

Pink did you apply to SC, last year some communication majors with high gpas like yours got rejected from ucla but into usc.

Rejected:
GPA: 3.733
Prereqs: all finished
no TAG or whatever; I go to UCI

I am going to appeal. I already have in mind what I am going to write. As my name suggests, I am part deaf… I have noise induced hearing loss, and as a result I have Tinnitus (ringing in the ears). I am going to write this into the appeal, and say how it has been a hardship that I struggled to overcome, while keeping up my GPA and doing other extra-curriculars.

Also, I am going to go in depth how I have been in contact with the Navy Reserve recruiters, and I have taken the initial steps to become a Reserve Naval Officer.

I have a professor or two also who I have been close to who will be more than happy to write me glorifying letters of rec… Hopefully the UCLA admissions board will look favorably upon me.

I’m planning on appealing. What do you guys think my chances are? I have also enrolled in the one prereq im missing over the summer and will complete it before fall 09.

^
Depends on what new/missing information you forgot to add, will be on the appeal.

the only new info will be some new ec and enrollment in the missing prereq? will they take a class i will complete over the summer into consideration?

I guess i’ll appeal…don’t know what I can say though. But- its worth a shot.
I didn’t apply to USC -I really considered it, though-because of the cost ($40,000 a year) At my age it won’t amortize…kwim? We aren’t in the position to get financial aid-but don’t make enough to afford that expense, if that makes any sense.

^@Gdelgado
I don’t think that will be enough. Appeals that are successful have some sort of personal reason to them, but it never hurts to try! [:

Well, first I suggest you call Admissions and ask them why you were rejected, if it was because of the pre-req…then…there you go.

I meant BUT because of the cost, I didn’t apply (duh)

^actually I have a lot of friends who are upper middle class, and private colleges still tend to give them quite a bit of financial aid if they fill out the fafsa

^ Thats good to know. Thanks-I didn’t think they would give me anything.

when you guys are say “missing prereqs”, do you mean missing by now or missing by the end of spring?

Rejected.
Don’t give up hope for Cal guys. After high school, I got into Berkeley but got rejected from UCLA. Also Cal has increased the number of transfers it’s accepting this year!

lol its official UCLA doesn’t like whitey or Americans that where born here lol

REJECTED

GPA: 3.86
Major: ARCHITECTURE
ECs: A lot + I had a great portfolio.
Current School: Santa Barbara City College
Prereqs: Missing 1 or 2
IGETC completed
NO TAP

I can’t ****ing believe this. Anyone know how to appeal???
