UCLA Rejects Here!

my major is computer science, which required about 85 units, i missed some, so then i m fine with the decision, but the only thing i want to do now is studying to get enough and there will come a vendetta next year, stay strong guys

oh snaps transferstd is going to blow up ucla

remember remember the twenty third of april

comp sci isnt impacted ?

it shouldnt be

Rejected, 3.7 GPA missing two pre-reqs for bizecon, so i wasn't surprised, i knew it was going to happen for months now.

UCSD all the way son!

i have UCSD as backup, yet, i m going to study at my CC for the revenge then, yeah remember remember the twenty third of April

my decision is stil pending but my hopes aren't up.. i applied for econ, i have about 3.4 gpa, tap, few ecs, work parttime.. i can say that i feel kind of numb.. I've been listening to tupac's album 'r u still down, rember me' and its helping.. haha..

UCSD is where i'll likely end up if i'm rejected from ucla

NO. FKCING. WAY. ... SERIOUSLY. WOT, I totally thought you were in for sure. Honestly, when I was PM'ing you back with the appeal talk, I was just sharing it to make you feel better (since I will be appealing if I get rejected)... but I thought you were definitely in. If you're over LA, then good for you! But if you're still kind of feeling it... i hope you write a kick ass appeal that shows how bad you want it (we've certainly seen that here!) because your "in-progress" pre-reqs are such a crappy reason to be rejected. Anyway... yeah... I was rooting for you too so I'm kinda bummed! (Though, USC obviously has an amazing program...so... :)

Mind posting that 'appeal talk' for those of us planning on doing so?

Yeah I took a short session Poli Sci class just to be done with all of them and yeah... I got no spring break. My friends are convincing me to appeal, I need this when I only applied to 2 schools.
Oh did you? I'd like to take suggestions?! I've been specualting it's because I sent this update to the wrong email. It just sucks.
I'm not sure yet, need to clear my head a bit first.

my hands r still shaking

UCLA Undergrad Admissions: Appeals - Transfer Applicants

[quote]
UCLA does not set aside space in our class for students who appeal admission decisions. Every denied application has gone through extensive reviews. Therefore, for an appeal to have merit, it must bring to light new academic and personal information as well as information pertaining to extenuating circumstances that was not present in the application—information that clearly shows the student to be stronger than had been earlier evidenced.

it doesn't look like i even have grounds to appeal.. good luck to the rest of you who fit the bill and try that route

WOT, you can call the admissions office and ask if they got it. I actually talked directly to an admissions officer today (he was on campus) and he said that phone lines go crazy right now with transfer students calling in to ask about things...but it's expected and they are ready! I'd call and check in about that if I were you! And you may as well see if you can get any more info as to why you were rejected (I read a few threads in here when searching that if you call and directly ask about your app, sometimes you get some info as to why you were rejected, etc... so it's worth a shot especially if you want to formulate the best appeal letter)....

OK... there was a berkeley appeal site created by students that was REALLY informative and helpful on how to create the best appeal letter... I am going to try to dig it up. Acceptance on appeal is very low, but POSSIBLE!

WOT, IMO, you should DEFINITELY appeal... anyone with a truly good reason as to why they shouldn't have been rejected should appeal (if UCLA is a top choice for you anyway..the appeal process is going to take some time and then waiting for ANOTHER decision is going to be tough).

As I told WOT, I know a transfer student who got into UCLA on appeal last year (we all speculate they were rejected due to pre-reqs), and my sister got in to a top UC on appeal as a freshman... so it's not like it never happens. But just, be realistic -- if your GPA is way below what is normal for your area, then unless you've done something especially amazing that you forgot to mention, it's probably a waste of your time to appeal. But in WOT's case, I honestly think she has a great shot at it since 1) IP pre-reqs is probably the only reason (make sure you get A's) and 2) she is (was? I'm not sure if you're still wanting LA) soooo passionate about getting in...

I feel your pain transferstd.

I also have 3.91 in CS and got rejected.

3.7 in english. eh, not my intended major anyways.

Rejected - BizEcon

Completely devastated...worked so so hard for UCLA
Did my very best - high gpa, only missing 4 pre-reqs, only FOUR,
Devastated....

Lol, yeah right. With 140 quarter units/93 semester units for UCLA, there was no way in hell I was getting in. Especially since I'm coming from UCD.

Oh well, Berkeley, make me happy!

Gets harder every year.

Flynn effect - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

lets say i go to another uc becasue i do get rejected from ucla, do you guys think its possible to avoid senior standing if one transfers in with the max allowed units as a junior?.. you know what i getting at

Hey blurry whats the problem with 140 quarter units/93 semester units for UCLA? Why didnt u have a chance?

PinkTee-No lie it was A top choice. I only applied to the 2 and was extremely picky so, yeah... Thank you for your advice. I have been told by everyone from friends to parents to appeal/call/ask why. etc., Yeah, I will. When I'm clear headed for sure, I presume Friday will be the day. Again, thank you. :)
