Well I think that the reason so many high GPA students got rejected from UCLA is because they applied to the seriously competitive majors like communications and and bus econ. A lot of the people that got accepted was in the less competitive majors.

Yeah, you're probably right, thedude44. oh wellzzzzz, lol.

Yea I am sure if you applied to pretty much any major besides communication with the same stats (assuming you completed the prerequisites for that major) you would have got accepted WoT.

4this1post, woww im soooo suprised u didnt get accepted....i think that you should definetly go talk to ur tap conselor..and she can contact ucla for you and find out why u didnt get in. Thats what happened last year at my cc, one tap student didnt get in and she called and spoke with the school and they ended up accepting that person......good luckk

Decision: Rejected

Transferring from a 4 year private
Major: Musical Theater
GPA: 3.5
Audition: Went well, received compliments from the auditioners saying they were impressed by my performance and my understanding of the material
Essays: Very good
Extra-curriculars: extremely good, leadership positions in fraternity, starter on NCAA soccer team, involvement in productions related to my major
Pre-Reqs completed: yes, plus a good bit of my major work done as well

Oh well. Maybe I should have applied to a major that was accepting more than 5 people.

''Rejected: Biz-Econ, 4.0 GPA, missing two-prereqs, so no surprise.
Waiting impatiently for UCB and USC''

are you serious??

i have a friend who is the same major as you. she has only GPA3.4 and several ''Ws'' on the transcript, and gets accepted...

^Missing PRE-REQS

so wait buz econ is a hard major to get into at ucla? is it impacted?

kwlaznkid- its like the most impacted program they have

WOW! thanks DJS3CA, that makes me feel a tad better i guess lol

Forgive me for sounding ignorant, but I've always wondered. What exactly is an "impacted" major? I always correlated it with "hard to get into" but never really took the time to understand what it was.

oorah87 from my undersatnding an impacted major is usually
1. hard
2. lots of people want it
and most importantly 3. if you don't apply with that major you cannot change to that major from a different major
like i couldn't have applied as a lit major and change to a buz econ major if buz econ is impacted

Mainly... the number of applicants exceed space available in that major.

so is anyone thinking of appealing?

YES I am. But it has to be postmarked by tomorrow. Not too much time but I'm pulling out all the shots. Personally, I think it will virtually impossible to overturn my rejection the Comm Studies major, but I'm trying.

Best of luck to you. I just can't believe how competitive comm was this year. One of my friends was just like you with a 3.9 GPA and great ECs and she was rejected. Again best of luck.

if anyone has questions on appealing, i can help.
