What? Like the director's going to accept more Asian people because he's Asian? Is that what you're implying UClippers05?

REJECTED

Major: EE
4.34 W, 4.14 UC GPA
32 ACT (1410)
770 writing, 760 bio, 690 math iic
ECs=pretty good
Essays=pretty good (I'd like to think)

Well, it was expected, with me not getting the engineering letter and all. Still, this is so ghetto. Some random person IM and listen to my whining.

polarman~ which admission site?
but they dont have the online status~

Hey we still live in a stereotypical world there could have been some influence. But we will never know.

Ohh~~ thanks so much~~
hehe..i am so nervous now~
oh god...

Rejected :( Carrying on my school's tradition! (No one accepted in last 4 years, lol.)

UCSB, UCSD, where y'all at?! :D

I agree w/ the posters who said that essays played a big role in admissions.

dont worry guys you still have a shot at ucb. i heard they put more emphasis than ucla on essays so they would be the most random uc statistically and from my school they accepted quite a few ucla rejects that had pretty bad stats like 1250's sat and 3.8 weighted gpas who were mostly first generation college students

BTW, my stats were:

SAT: 1300 (660 M, 640 V)
SAT IIs: 740 Writing, 730 Spanish, 610 Math IC
106 hours volunteer work (60+ in senior home)
Lots of ECs, but only "low-ranking" leadership roles (secretary, etc.)
Income level: lowest possible (but I didn't inform them until last month in a letter...hmm)

My GPA must have killed me. 3.6 or something.

Got rejected :(

1440/800/770/680 out-of-state

man fu(k UCLA 1400 SAT 3.4 GPA.

1520 sat 1, 800 math 2 c, 780 writing and 750 bio
3.8 uw gpa
reject

^^^^ that is just messed up. How were your essays?

Accord, that is nothing less than ... disturbing.

People with those stats can make it to Stanford, while UCLA accepts the worst of it's applicants.

lol i dunno, i thought my essays were great..i have good ecs, lots of comm service, sports, leadership, blah blah..ahh well..=/ congrats to those of you who got in, and to those of you who didnt, i hope my post makes it better cause ucla is random

Hey, I'm part of the UCLA rejects alumni association (c/o 2004). I'm really happy where I am and am glad I'm not at crappy UCLA. Good riddance to that bureaucracy.

ucla is really upsetting me
it seems way to random

Maybe it's because you guys are honing down on Stats too much. Try looking at INCOME levels as well. And I'm sure race plays a factor. I know people w/ 1200s SATs who have been accepted because they were URM.

uh hum, AA was abolished by the UC system. It shouldn't matter if they're URM or not.
