i hate life.

1430 sat1, 740 m2c, 720 writing, 690 bio
instate
4.2 uc gpa
pretty good essays and extracurriculars
had "special circumstances" (evacuated 2x)

i don't get it. now i have no hope for berkeley (#1 choice.)

i got a still reviewing your application when i logged into my UCLA admission decision site.. wat does that mean.. do i still have a chance of getting in..when r they goign to tell me if i got in or not..

4300 out of 42000
11% admit rate???

Rejected, out of state, 1500, 4.0 UC GPA, 750 writing, 740 IIC, 710 Chem, tons of ECs and a lot of community service, leadership positions. Oh well, I've got other options anyway. Good luck to those who haven't found out yet.

They admit about 20-25% of all applicants. Less than 50% of admits will enroll. In the end, about 4300 will actually enroll.

this is extremely messed.

SAT: 1460

i am now extremely discouraged as i have always wanted to go to this school sine i was a little kid. all i can do is hoep for the appeal. anyone know hwo to go about the "appeal" process???

rejected, instate, 1280, 760, 700, 670, 4.1, asian, good ecs, comm service, etc
i guess my essays weren't outstanding.
should i appeal? if so, is there anything specific that i should do/write? what do they look for in an appeal? is there a way for me to make up for the essays part?
i dont know if this matters, but the sat scores i reported were different than the ones that showed up- it's not that i reported my scores wrong, it's just that they put up different highest scores than the ones i chose.

Your high school counsellors should know all about the appeals process.

get them envolved and go for it.

The valedictorian at my school was accepted (and received a likely letter from the Engineering dept) for Mechanical Engineering. But then again, he IS the val, so.. shrugs

I didn't apply to the UCs, sorry to hear about all your decisions (for those of you denied admissions) and great for those of you who have been accepted!

Good luck to those of you who still haven't heard.

those who are *ed of that they have been rejected including me UCLA sometimes admit people for very specific reasons . Everyone is *ed but those who applied and said "I didn't even want to go to UCLA" that is a bunch of BS and you know it or else you wouldn't have applied even if it were your safety school. UCLA just has a weird system probably essays and 1st gen/race were important factors . But this year it seems as if they were really picky.

I agree that UCLA is totally random. I guess I should considder myself lucky...

Major: Computer Engineering (EE/CS)
Status: Accepted
SAT: 1510 (710V, 800M)

SATII: 790, 690, 650
Class Rank: 002 of 490 (ELC)
AP Scores: 5, 4, 3, 3, 3 (plus 5 more in progress)
Essays: Strong
ECs: Strong (but no athletics)
Geographic Location: Southern CA
Race: Declined to state on application (I didn't want to get in or be rejected based on the color of my skin)
Parents: Married (both have degrees from UCSB and UCD)

Bottom line: I feel for the rest of you. Hopefully Berkeley or UCSD will work out for you. Best wishes!

Do any future statisticians want to crunch up some numbers from the total number of UCLA acceptees/denials?

tlaktan:

About 75-80% rejected.

20-25% accepted.

Less than 50% of those accepted will actually enroll.

In the end about 4300 will be on campus, in school come Fall.

It's pretty much the same year after year.

well 4300 admitted??? i guess but by what i have read so far most of the 1300s and many 1400s have been rejcted but 1stgens/low income have been accepted essays could have been good

10.238% admitted. Wow, is that going to beat HYMPS for the lowest ever?

This must be the UCLA-massacre, eh? So many qualified applicants denied entrance. Is UCLA going through a bout of the admissions phenomena commonly known as "Tufts Syndrome?" (Don't get me wrong, I love Tufts and the IR program, so by no means is it a minus on Tufts)..

Many of you are not realizing that we're measuring acceptances/rejections in the small population of CC. There are so many people who ARE NOT ON CC and have rejects/admits. There will be people who are overqualified and not admitted - it could be that their essays sucked, or they didn't take advantage of what their school offered, or their major was overcrowded..etc. We won't know what UCLA's main criteria or selection process was until someone comes out with a statistics report.

I'm pretty sure they admitted about 10,000 students with the expectation that 4,300 will actually attend.

I know a friend who got in and his stats weren't extraordinary:

SAT: 1320 (740M, 580V)
SAT II: 760-Math IIC, 720-Chem, 480-Writing
GPA: 3.7UW
