Alright guys I'm getting worried now... How bad do we have to do to lose our admission? I'm going to get a couple of B's this semester, which has not happened to me before... It's going to do some damage to my GPA... So while there will be a signifigant drop in my preformance, I'm not looking at any D's or F's. Should I contact the school and tell them, or just ignore it?

Naw, a couple of B's will be fine.

You have to have a major drop in your OVERALL GPA to have to report.

A couple of B's will drop you maybe .2 if you have a 4.0, of course depending on how many units you have taken and your actual GPA.

A couple C's, I'd probably report it then, but don't worry about the B's.

Hey guys... Yesterday, I called UCSB to find out why I was rejected and got some unfortunate news... Apparently, although, I will have enough semester units in my college to transfer, I dont have enough quarter units for transferring due to different AP credit policies... So now Im missing 6.5 quarter units (by the end of spring I will have 83.5) and thats why UCSB rejected me.... They told me that I could appeal saying that I will take summer school or reapply for winter... Now, I really want to go to UCLA, so I called UCLA right away and the guy was not really helpful... He just told me in a very monotonous voice that I need a minimum of 90 units to transfer.... Well, by the end of spring I will have all my IGETC, Honors, and premajor reqs completed, so I will only need to take any 2 elective classes during summer to complete my 90 units... Although, Im still pending at UCLA, do you think I have good chances with my appeal if I dont get in (I have a lot of stuff to put on appeal, just in case)?
Thanks...

UCLA has started reviewing the reported changes. When you login, it says the review is in process.

hmm did you just in send in your SIR?, because mine did not say that until I sent in my SIR yesterday, but I read where a couple other people''s have been saying that for a week now.

Yep, when I login it says that review is in progress. I feel I have to wait to be accepted all over again!

Charlie123, I cannot even imagine. I still haven't heard from them the FIRST time and I feel like I'm living the movie "Groundhog Day" checking this website everyday for weeks on end without any change. You must be jumping out of your skin right about now!

Your UCLA peer counselor and all of the other schools told you you'd be fine with the drop though, right? I'm sure it will be okay. Good luck!

proof,

I'm still pending as well, and wondering what I'll do if I'm rejected. I know they don't reverse the vast majority of decisions. They'd be looking for some "new and compelling" information that they didn't have at the time they reviewed your application. I don't think I would have a prayer, as I'd basically be appealing just because I didn't like their answer! I've decided I'll go to UCSD, instead.

But I think in your case, you might have a compelling appeal if you get rejected. I would go for it and cite the discrepancy between the schools regarding their policies on your AP coursework. It's worth a shot, and it does explain why you are suddenly low in credits -- which may not have been explained to their satisfaction in your application. I hope it works out for you!

PS -- Have you looked at their policy on appeals? I think they said they try to get back to people within 3(?) weeks with an answer, but all the SIRs have to be in by June 1. They haven't left us time to fight their decisions without jeopardizing our admissions at other campuses. If you are still serious about appealing, maybe you should have the letter ready if you think you are going to get bad news. I'd overnight it, too. Hopefully it won't come to that for you -- good luck!

Yup Charlie, thats what I feel like

Well I guess Id be lying if I denied that I was a little bit more confident this time through though.

sabrina26: When I called UCLA, I asked them whats the deadline for the appeals and he told me that it is June 1st... I dont know if he meant that I need to reply with the SIR (if I get in) by the 1st or just send it out before the 1st...
Also, Im already collecting information and asking my professors to write me recommendations, so I plan on having my appeal done pretty soon....
Thanks for the support....

sounds like your handling the situation very well.

Hey guys, I thought if you appeal and get in, you'll have to apply for Spring 2006 because all the deadlines for Fall 05 would've passed. You're on a completely different schedule if you get in on appeal.

Hey guys, I had a quick question. Did you guys update the Winter grades when you reported the changes ?

Yeah I updated my winter grades.

I really hope they decide within the stated 15 bussiness days
