UCLA science department

So I got accepted and was wondering what the deal was with a couple subjects at UCLA. I heard chem/ochem was unreasonably difficult in comparison to other UCs, which is one of the reasons why Im still holding back on submitting my SIR. What about other courses such as physics, bio, etc.? - the reqs for a pre-med student. Any clarity would be much appreciated.

Nothing is unreasonably difficult about UCLA, and since they accepted you they think you can handle the course load. You’re going to have to work hard since it definitely is tough, and it’ll be competitive, but it’s some you’ll have to kill yourself over. College is going to be tough regardless of where you go, if you spend enough time working on things you’ll be okay. Grow some balls, med school will be 100x tougher.

I dont have a problem with working hard. Thats how I got to my position as you mentioned. Im just hearing stories about how even the top students get Cs in chemistry at UCLA and when they meet people from other schools in a masters program for example those students received As without a problem - the syllabi being very similar.

Believe me, Im not looking for the easy way out. Im just trying to find nearly equal platforms in terms of understanding the material.

Thanks for your insight though.

both quarters of life science g chem have been a breeze so far. the teacher for both quarters is excellent.
