Let's get ready for the orientation. When do we have to be there? Exactly at 7:30am? Can I check in at 10.00am instead?

ok i’m up too late but i couldn’t resist responding really fast when i saw a post about the orientation on monday, lol. looks like you’d be fine checking in at 10am, according to other posts around here, but i’m just gonna get there at 7:30am (given i don’t go to bed crazy late or something) to make the most out of it. a lot of people feel that it’s long enough without having to be there since 7:30 in the morning but eh, to each their own.

oh, and i forgot to add: is anyone else freaked out about not getting the classes they want? i am a bit. haha. if anyone wants to chime in with some knowledge about what it might be like, please feel free to do so :)

i got there at 9:30 and they were all still in the big classroom having speeches done by different departments. when you get there late it’s going to seem like you have no idea where anybody is so I might recommenend getting there on time at 7:30 just to put your mind at ease and not have to go searching. at around 10:30 you are going to break up into individual groups of about 8 with a counselor assigned to each. Let me just say this, YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE PROBLEMS GETTING THE CLASSES YOU WANT. You need to go onto the UCLA schedule and really narrow your choices down because chances are you won’t get any if your major is impacted and will have to take some random classes that just fullfill your units and nothing else.

The trouble I have is that first, I have to go to my cc again to resend my transcript and Igetc certification again. (as of today, UCLA still hasn’t received both of these). so that would take a while.

im going tomorrow! i’m kinda excited!

i will be there! ahhh i’m so worried about the class schedule…

Loopster, the UCLA orientation website says check-out time is 9pm. So something like that.

And the same site also says that the orientation is just for students, so I’m going by myself. I don’t know any non-students that would actually want to stay through the whole thing anyway, personally…

and thanks for the info sweetnezz! i saw your posts about this in another thread, part of what especially worries me about the classes, lol.

oh, and Kahn: if I were you I’d print out copies of my transcripts at the very least and bring them w/me to orientation (the catalogs for your CC too if you can get ahold of them… though they may be online as well).
or maybe you’re already doing this and more, just thought i’d say something.

NO guests and you will get out of there at about 9:15, you sign up for classes right at 9:00.

uctransfergirl: Thank you for your suggestion. Actually I already have my transcript w/ me now. But the problem is that the UCLA admission office ppl still haven’t received my final transcript and Igetc(Even though I have already filed them a month ago).

yeah, that sucks. I hope everything works out! But yeah, I’d bring the transcripts and catalogs if possible to orientation for the sake of making it easier when you meet with your counselor and figuring out what classes to take or whatever they do.

You can bring a quest. When I went to my orientation, a girl in the group had her friend to accompany her, and there was no apparent problem with it.

I believe you enroll at 8*

i have orientation tomorrow! it’s almost midnight and i’m still up. hopefully i can make it through the entire day without falling asleep or ending up looking super tore up. haha

i’m super duper excited.

any poli. sci. majors attending orientation tomorrow? see ya there!
