UCLA Sociology Transfer

Hey Everybody!

I was just wondering what you guys think about my situation.

Major: Sociology
Prereqs: Only have math completed with a B
Overall GPA: 3.85

I have researched the subject and love it, I even crashed a couple classes but I just havent had the chance to officially take it. But I have priority registration and will have all prereqs in Spring. How do you think this affects my chances?

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but your chances of transferring to UCLA for that major aren’t good.

Completion of all or most pre-reqs by fall is extremely important for impacted majors such as Sociology. In less impacted majors, one can afford to miss some pre-reqs or complete some of them in spring, but not sociology. Your GPA is great, though. You can try again next year. Sorry to be so blunt, but it’s better to warn you about this now.

I think you have a ok shot at UCLA. Your gpa is above the average admitted in Sociology. But, not sure about getting B on major pre req class. Speaking of the missing pre-reqs, I have two friends that got into UCLA missing pre-req (finishing in Spring), I don’t remember their gpa though. Neways, their majors were Sociology and Political Science. Good Luck!

Thank you guys for both of your opinions! I guess we will see what the admissions office has to say. Does anyone else have some experience with this?
