You need to calculate your UC GPA, see link:<a href=“GPA Calculator for the University of California – RogerHub”>http://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/

SAT score too low to be competitive. I would recommend you retake and aim for a 2100+
See link for 2014 Freshman profile to see how you stack up.

UCLA: Reach
I hope you have some safeties and matches on your list. Good Luck

Complete disregard for my ECs. Ok.

@buzzdillbertha: I did not disregard your EC’s but unfortunately most UC’s are a numbers game. UCLA is known to be more holistic in their admissions and your EC’s will definitely help, but your SAT will hurt. Concentrate on your essays and make them shine. If possible, retake the SAT or try the ACT.

Gumbymom is correct. You said that you’ve been lurking on here for a while, so I’m kind of surprised that you don’t realize that a 1810 is low for UCLA. I would try to retake the SAT.

And two questions: in-state or out of state?

Also, what do you mean by a medical pathway? What classes were these? Anatomy?

Agreed, you have to retake the SAT. Also, UCLA (and the rest of the UC system) isn’t as holistic as you think–plenty of people from my school with mediocre extracurriculars but good stats got in, while ones with more compelling life stories didn’t because they simply didn’t have the numbers for it. Your extracurriculars are pretty decent but not spectacular. The ones who beat the numbers game are the ASB presidents, varsity sport captains, and community leaders.

I’m not an admissions officer. None of us are, in fact. Take our advice sparingly, but don’t be so obstinate as to willfully ignore that advice because it’s not what you want to hear. Your best bet as a CA resident with those stats is to write some great essays and hope you get a supplemental application in January to better explain your situation.

Best of luck!

I will also add onto the claim that UC, despite their proclaimed holistic admissions process, mostly cares about the numbers. You want to raise your SAT for a better shot at getting in.

I’m currently in UCLA! When I applied I was in the top 10 of my class like you, with 3.73 GPA and lots lots LOTS of EC and volunteer hours, as required by my school. I’m going to say what everyone else says… RAISE YOUR SAT SCORE! You might not think it matters but it really does! I got in with a 34 ACT, I don’t think I would’ve if it wasn’t for that score.
