UCLA status=ALTERNATE?

So in the letter, UCLA started the letter as a rejection, but in the end stated that my condition was "alternate", and that, by the end of may, if I was needed to replace accepted students looking elsewhere, I'M IN

So.....what are my chances and what can I do to increase them? Teacher recs? Councelor calls? Emails? I'm dying to go to UCLA..

Really? I haven't heard of that before....sound's like a wait list. Didn't know they did that.

I don't know the answer to that, but I don't see how what you mentioned (recs, emails) can hurt you. Of course they might simply ignore them
