I’m going to be a freshman this fall and would like to have an on campus part time job (I will be applying during 0 week). I know I’m going to be applying for some low level library and lab jobs. Are there any others that I should look into? (Preferably simple and straightforward ones since I don’t have a ton of work experience). Thanks! 
Maybe consider the UCLA store/bookstore or some of the eateries around campus (Cafe Synapse, Luvalle)? If you look at the work study listings on MyUCLA there are a lot of IT/tech support and clerical/office type jobs, the latter of which I had as a freshman. If I might offer one snippet of advice be prepared to apply to many positions, I sent out tons of emails and got very few responses, but luckily the one I was accepted for turned out to be a great experience. Though this will vary depending on the department you work for, your co-workers, the nature of the work, etc.
One good job would be to work in the UCLA market on the lower floor of Ackerman Union. This is A 7-Eleven type store with snacks and the like.I knew someone who work there and it seemed she was known by sight if not by name by half the students at UCLA!
