UCLA student needs some answers

Hey, I'm a 3rd year transfer student majoring in political science and I'm thinking of double majoring in economics. Can I do that and if I can...what is the process of me to do that?

As well, my roommate is going to leave for the winter quarter because he has to complete a class that he didn't finish in community college...however, he is coming back next quarter? Am I going to live with another person for the winter quarter or am I living in alone?

As well, off the top of your head...do you guys know any good political science teachers?

And Oh yah, what is the format of a fiat lux seminar? Is there any hw, research paper...etc, etc? Besides meeting every once in a while, what else goes on?

And finally...why are some classes 3 hours, but 4 units?

You won't be allowed to double major in Econ because you were admitted to UCLA as a Poli Sci major.

Transfer students aren't allowed to switch into or double major in any of the Econ majors if they were originally admitted into another department.

From the UCLA Transfer Admissions website:

"Demand for this major significantly exceeds space available. You must be admitted directly into this major; you will not be able to change to this major after admission to UCLA."
