UCLA Summer Aid

hello people. i'm planning on taking a 5 unit physics 6 series class this summer. i will however need 6 units min. to be eligible for financial aid or otherwise i'll have to pay over a grand for this class. does any of you know of a workaround or an easy 1-2 unit class i can take alongside the main class? by the way who else thinks that this 6 unit rule is just ridiculous and has been enacted deliberately to minimize the number of people who can receive financial aid? i mean there aren't that many 6 unit classes at ucla.

Do a SRP 99 research class; that’s only 2 units.

priority deadline for summer financial aid has already passed, so you’ll receive less aid by applying now. and, that 6 unit rule to be half-time status has always been in effect for all the quarters here (12 units is minimum for full-time status). that’s why people take 2 classes, either both during session A or one for session A and one for session C. it wasn’t “enacted deliberately” to minimize people who receive financial aid.

btw, 6 units qualifies you for summer pell grants. 8 units is actually the minimum to receive university grants. then again, since priority deadline is passed, i’m not sure whether university grants will still be offered.
