Is anyone here taking summer classes?

I have registered for 2 classes, and if you want any financial aid, you have to submit a "request for summer aid" via MyUCLA by April 30th with the classes you plan to take on it. I am not sure if I will be approved, but its worth a shot. I contacted the summer housing office, and On-campus housing for summer is already full, so off campus is all that is available through UCLA. However, tons of people are subletting rooms out for summer. UCLA is open-enrollment for summer, so classes are filling up. I've contacted the counseling office as well, and you cannot schedule an appointment until AFTER transfer orientation. So if you are going to take summer classes, make sure you know which classes you need for your major.

I am going to UCLA on April 25th, this friday to attend a STOMP (https://www.admissions.ucla.edu/stompconference/stompconferenceflyer.pdf) transfer workshop, hopefully I can talk to someone about summer school there and the best route to take. I'll keep everyone updated.

Yes its possible, I did it two years ago (time flies at UCLA)… however I strongly regret that move. Transitioning from a 15/16 week semester to a 6 week summer session was not that easy. Especially when I was taking upper division mathematics and economic courses. However if you think you could handle it go for it… however don’t say I didn’t warn you.

regarding the April 30th deadline, don’t worry… I appealed it and got my $$ for the summer… However summer session financial aid is not as generous as in the fall/winter/spring… Its great you are going to the STOMP conference… … I am losely affiliated with STOMP and don’t mind helping new BRUINS…

BTW, congrats on getting admitted to UCLA. I remember that moment 2 years ago… it was definitely life-changing moment.

Thank you so much @Dagoberto, ive taken some hard classes during summer and winter at CC (8 and 4 week classes) so i thinkkkkk (big emphasis on think here) i can do it. I only plan on taking 2 classes. One of the classes i need to take has requisites that ive already taken at my CC, will they confirm ive taken them using my transcripts? I’ve already sent them.

Since a lot of people from other colleges (mainly native socal students from other UC’s) take classes during the summer sessions, that is the only quarter that pre-requisites are not really enforced. From a financial aid point of view, you have to take at least 9 quarter units to get pell and call grants… PM so we can talk at the STOMP conference… I can give you all the details in person.

@Dagoberto Since biz-econ major requires a lot of classes to graduate, will you recommend summer session to an incoming transfer in that major?
How many classes (units) do you think is appropriate for an incoming transfer? (at cc, I usually take about 16 semester units… but I understand it is going to be a huge transition from semester to quarter)
If you don’t mind telling me, why did you regret taking those classes in the summer? lol
