i was just admitted at a pre-bizecon major and i have nooo idea what to take this summer. i WANT to take a course just to get my feet wet, but the problem is, i don't know what TO take. i was going to take econ 11 because it's a pre-req for my major but since i have to get a good grade in that class, i was told to wait til fall/spring to take it. i'm registered to take econ 41, which is stats for economists, but i realized that that's a bad idea since it's an "impacted" class, so i'm going to drop it and take something else. i want to take something reasonably challenging to get me ready for the first quarter.

if you're registered or thinking of taking summer courses, what are you taking? any suggestions for me? i took a communications class here at my cc, should i take it for "fun" here? a little guidance please...

A part of me wants to take Political Science 118, but I’m having trouble justifying $1000 for one course. My main motivation is also to get my feet wet before the school year begins.

I’ll be taking poli sci 20 and 50. It’ll be nice to get a taste for classes before the quarter starts, but I also have to take these classes as part of my provisional admissions contract since I couldn’t take them at my CC.

after searching for a class to take, i found out that i need a writing II class to go towards getting into my accounting minor and there are a bunch of random fun stuff i can take, and on the plus side, i can start writing again before those papers start rolling in.

Have you guys enrolled in summer classes yet? I just enrolled in 2 for session C =) i’m just wondering where you make the payments because i can’t find it on the URSA. Let me know what you all have done! Thanks!

Anyone going through the Transfer Summer Program @ UCLA? I was thinking of taking Psych 100A but then I heard about the TSP program… Anyone else know about this?? I feel like it is this secret hush hush thing & it’s survival of the fittest to get the info!

Apparently you take 12 units session C and live on campus w/ 100 or so other transfers and it is a transition into the University… You take a writing, research class & 1 more elective depending on major…

@shawnabehrens Will you be attending the Academic Advancement Program event at UCLA on May 15th? They’ll explain the Transfer Summer Progam more in depth. You also don’t HAVE to live on campus. You can commute and still do the program. At STOMP I think they said registration begins on the 17th? I’ll have more answers about it Saturday night.

TSP is through the ASP and apparently they only accept like 100 - 200 people. All the info will be given out at Scholar’s Day tomorrow… I heard about it through the Stomper’s Conference. Otherwise I would have never known about it… I don’t have too much info about it but here is a link about the curriculum (vague! blah! )

AAP’s Freshman/Transfer Summer Program
AAP’s Freshman/Transfer Summer Program (F/TSP) is a seven-week rigorously academic residential program, running from July 25- September 13, 2010, giving you experience with the academic demands of UCLA, introducing you to life at UCLA, and helping you feel comfortable as a UCLA student. You will be challenged academically. You’ll enroll in two university courses, both which meet UCLA’s graduation requirements. You’ll receive close personal attention from professors, teaching assistants, counselors, and peer counselors, and you’ll work closely with tutors in small groups or in one-on-one individual meetings.

In F/TSP, you will gain even more confidence in your intellectual abilities before having to deal with the pressures of your first full quarter of university academic work; you will become familiar with the whole range of campus programs, services, and resources available to you; and you’ll have the opportunity to live on campus together with F/TSP students of diverse backgrounds.

well the only info i have is the link you have and i stopped by the office today and asked about it…they said Financial Aid covers TSP if your EFC is below $2000.

so its free! apply asap if you know that you will def. be interested…cuz spots fill up fast.
