UCLA Summer Session

Hey there! I am considering attending summer session at UCLA this summer and taking probably around 2 classes! This summer will be the summer before my senior year of high school. I have a few questions about summer session…

  1. Will attending this increase my chances of getting accepted to UCLA when the time comes?
  2. What is the campus like over the summer? Does it have a good amount of students?
  3. Also, I am a bit concerned about going in as a high school student. I am wondering if there are a decent amount of high school students there during the summer? Overall, I guess I am just concerned about the social aspect of it, while going as a high school student. I'm probably overthinking this aspect of it, but I just want to make sure I'll have friends there and some sort of social life.

Thanks for reading!

  1. Taking summer classes will not increase your chances at an acceptance to UCLA. It will however show good course rigor and give you extra honors points in your Fully weighted UC GPA.

I cannot answer the last 2 questions but best of luck.

  1. What @Gumbymom said
  2. C session is the most popular. There is a good amount of students however they typically stay in on campus apartments or the vacated fraternity houses because they are cheaper than the dorms. So staying in the dorms over summer may be underwhelming if you’re looking for excitement. But there are a lot of students taking classes.
  3. Not many high school students. There is a CSI and FSP program for incoming Bruins (graduated seniors) but typically it’s first, second and third year bruins taking summer courses. It’s possible to make friends as a high school junior but know it’s goong to be 19-20 something year olds for the most part.

Alright, thank you for the info you guys.
