UCLA Supplemental Questionnaire 2018

Congrats to you all…means you’re still in for the contention!

Do you guys think that we should also answer question 1 and discuss a talent or skill that we have even if we received the supplemental review for a hardship?

Does anyone know if you don’t express any hardships in academics if you should do the 2nd prompt?

I also got this request
OOS
4.1 weighted gpa (what is a uc gpa)
SAT: 1550

@gnarly11:
UC GPA is your grades from 10-11th in the a-g course requirements and additional honors points for up to 8 semesters of AP/IB or DE courses taken during this time= Capped weighted UC GPA.
Unlimited honors points in the calculation for more than 8 semesters of these courses taken 10-11th = Fully weighted UC GPA.

UCLA looks at both.

Hey I got the exact same prompts, but I have no clue what to write.

ok my uc weighted is 4.25

Hi I got the supplement too. I’ve had hardships, and wrote about them in my app. Did I automatically get this because of that, or am I actually borderline? My GPA is pretty low for UCLA (3.5 UW), so I still never thought I’d be considered. Don’t want to get my hopes up because I have a feeling I only got this automatically because of my essays and not because they’re really considering me.

I also received a request for supplemental information from UCLA! I got a request from UC Davis, UCSD, and UCLA.

Thoughts?

I got the supplement too. Here is my stats.

I think the students got supplements because their talent or hardship was mentioned in essays but not very clear or persuasive.

Two of my teacher just told me the supplements they sent are totally random. It’s not as some one said 1/3 in,1/3
out and 1/3 borderlines.

so is it cuz we actually borderline or because we mentioned a hardship

I don’t think the “borderline” label is helpful.

No one knows what your odds are. But you can safely assume two things: 1) UCLA was interested in what you had to say in your essays and wants to know more. And 2) that you haven’t been rejected yet.

@dsievs I am in the same boat as you. I do not think it just automatically goes to everyone who mentioned a significant hardship because I did not receive a request from UC Davis, just UCSD and UCLA. If it went to everyone who mentioned hardships we would probably get them from all 3 schools automatically.

yeah that’s true. I only received a request from UCLA, and nowhere else

I also received a supplement, however I have no crazy talent/skill and no extreme hardship that affected my academics drastically. Should I still try to expand on my personal statements, or just enter my first semester grades?

They sent supplement request to students range from SAT1050 to ACT 36. No wonder some are happy some are sad and more are confusing.

Did anybody receive LOR from UCB?

@awakefish I have. I already sent my two LOR last month. And now UCLA wants SQ too. Good thing I didn’t receive one from UCSD too… Im already burned out from the original app season.

Hey guys quick question, so on the supplemental app it asks for your fall grades and in the example the grade is on a letter scale (like Acme HS, Calculus AP = A). If my school grades on a 100 point scale should I convert it into a letter grade or do you think leaving it as a number would be fine?
