I applied for transfer to both UCLA and UCB. My community college had no connection with Berkeley transfer, but they did have the UCLA TAP program. I was wondering if being TAP certified will help my chances at Berkeley admission? I am a little worried that it might hinder my chances, because I have heard of many people getting in to UCLA and not UCB and vice-versa - possibly because I have shown more interest in UCLA rather than UCB by being TAP certified. So, does UCB take into account UCLA TAP certification?

Thanks guys!

I’m not an authority on it but IMO I’d say yes but not officially. I was in Berkeley TAP but Haas doesn’t “officially” consider applicants in TAP the same as the College Letters & Science. It’s not “supposed” to help as much as L&S but the fact you have some college prep program on your application I see how it wouldn’t help your chances. There was an empty space on your app and you filled it in. I’d say it will definitely help you but not drastically. No way it’ll hurt you.

Nope, Berkeley does not give extra consideration to Honors programs.

Berkeley TAP targets low-income/first-gen students, not the same thing as UCLA TAP.
