I am a CC student with the hopes of transferring to UCLA. But I won't be done with all my honors classes until after I apply for UCLA probably. Does that mean I will not be able to be TAP certified for when I apply? And also, where can I find the prerequisites for my major? (Communication Studies) Are the the classes on assist.org?

Of course they are on assist.org, haven’t you tried using it already?

You don’t have to have all of your honors classes done before you apply. You do have a couple done by Fall though. I currently have 2 honors courses that I’m taking this semester (out of 5) and am TAP certified. I was accepted to UCLA.

Thank you ! So that means I can be TAP certified without my 5 honors classes completed right?

Yup, but obviously you will have to have them all completed by the end of Spring prior to transfer. They don’t mind if you have a couple in progress for Winter or Spring. And don’t forget to check the “TAP” option on the UC application. If you do not, you will not be able to use TAP from my understanding. Also, you cannot change whatever you select as your alternate major once you submit it, so make sure you select the right one.

Make sure your TAP counselor submits your certification, though. I had 1 honors class left that I’m taking right now (Spring) so I didn’t show up on their auto-list for TAP certification and I literally caught her the DAY that they were sending out the TAP certs and she added me to the list. If I didn’t call that day, she would have missed sending mine out!

P.S. Yay, a fellow comm major! I’m still deciding between LA/Cal

Hey rosegray congrats on your acceptance! Do you mind posting your stats and what your ecs were thanks?

I am hoping to major in comm studies thanks!

Thank you so much! And congrats as yomaxe asked, would it be possible for you to post your stats?
