UCLA TAP Rejects

I was TAP certified and was rejected from UCLA. Anyone else?

College: Foothill
Major: Economics
GPA: 3.5
Pre-reqs and IGETC completed
ECs: Student Body President, Senator SSCCC, YMCA Volunteer, two years work experience in IT industry, Entrepreneur/Business Club and Business Competition
Essays: Great
Accepted: SJSU, UCSD, UCSB, UCSC, Davis

international students? hmmm i guess you are not?
major GPA? If you get a B in Math 1A, Math 1B, Econ 1 or 2… you are likely to get rejected even you are tap certified.

wat as ur second major?

I applied Econ/Biz Econ

prolly coz both were impacted… cud u see ur FA stuff prior to the reject?.. wat were ur pre-req grades?

Out of curiosity, what kind of business did you have?

no wonder
biz econ is almost impossible to get in with a 3.5, i have almost never seen any exception

^International Clothing Importer. Didn’t make it.

Econ 1A (macro): B+
Econ 1B (micro): A-
English 1B Honors: B+
Math 1A (derivative calculus): A
Math 1B (integral calculus): C
Accounting 1A: A-
Accounting 1B: A-
Accounting 1C: A+

Pre-Req GPA: 3.5

So if you guys are right, it’s the Math 1B?

cant believe you got rejected with all those EC’s too.

so i’m assuming there’s no one else on the boards with TAP that was rejected.

In my appeal i’m going to explain my math grade. it does stand out from the rest of the pre-req grades and there’s a reason.

yeah… a C in major class is pretty much a gg…
:frowning:
I am from de anza and I am planning to transfer next year. The problem I had is that I dropped Econ 2 with a W during summer T-T, however I got an A in Econ 2 (honors) the next quarter. Sigh… I hope that doesn’t impact.

for upcoming business econ major… I highly suggest you guys apply for Econ instead of Biz/econ. Biz econ median GPA is 3.8-3.9, while econ only requires around 3.65-3.75…
and after you get into UCLA, you are still eligible to switch major to biz econ… you just need to get a minimum GPA of 3.5 in the same pre req classes as the pre biz econ major.

Therefore, Biz econ is a SCAM =.=… I am sure about that.

hence why it was my secondary. I applied econ as my primary.

I’m sure it’s the Math 1B grade. Those Foothill math classes are difficult!

ohhh!! yeah~~
but i feel bad for you not getting in… i know de anza and foothill math teachers are really bad… i totally feel what you are feeling…
i also dropped my math 1A (derivative calculus) class with a W coz the teacher was such a *****, but I got an A+ again the next time I took it…
I hope a perfect 4.0 major GPA with a 3.7 in average is going to give me a chance to LA or CAL. My downside is having 2 Ws on my major classes T-T…

Foothill math teachers are excellent, in general. It’s just that the classes are hard and the teachers demanding.

Cardinal! you are absolutely right…
It is the first time in my life that I start to blame my teachers… those indian teachers with heavy accent is just unacceptable… they are stubborn about the way you do your problems. You got the answers right and the step rights… they still manage to take points off you… coz you didn’t do it their ways… sigh… i am just so unlucky…
I am really ****ed at those international students who get to register their classes early and stole all the good teachers… and when they laugh at my GPA and mock about my Citizenship… I just felt like killing them =.=… they have no idea how bad it is to have a late reg in the first two quarters of college… ALL SPACES WERE TAKEN!

you sound alot like chesser ahahaha

it sucks because i don’t know anyone with TAP who was rejected. kinda feels i did all those honors courses for nothing.

^ It will still look good if you are planning to apply for graduate school

You can raise your GPA a bit and try again next year if UCLA is really where you want to be. I was rejected last year so tried again this year and I’m glad I did.
