UCLA: The Poitive Aspects

This isn't the best indicator but it suggestive enough - UCLA is #25/26 on the USNWR list/rankings. Its well-regarded enough to make it to the top. Seriously, dawritingmachine, are you kidding me?

He just saying it cuz the summer classes he took at UCLA were incredibly easy (but then, anyone can take ucla summer session).

Some of the more fun titled courses (Classical Mythology, etc.) that are taught by graduate school students who are testing out their teaching skills or by visiting lecturers are on the way-easy side. GE classes are easy enough during the school-year; they're even more so during Summer Sessions when the instructors aren't the typical professors or instructors. What classes did you take? Don't base the entire school on those sole experiences.

I'm sorry you had bad experiences so far. I'm curious though - how much experience have you had with the campus? Courses? Food? How long have you been at UCLA? What's your major too?

Yes, at least take into considerations the numbers and stats of the incoming class. Of course sure you'll meet someone that makes you think "How did YOU get in?" That's the same with any school though the likelihood of encountering that attitude is distributed differently. Overall, the students are pretty smart.

People who complaining about UCLA's majors not being top ranked need to get over themselves. Sure Cal has a higher ranking in just about every major, but since when is being in the top 20 in most majors not great.

How many of you are judging this from researching all of the nuances of individual department and separating the graduate and undergraduate school departments? How about looking at a major like "Biology" where it consists of chemistry, physics, math, etc. from different departments? How much does the accolades of researchers (rather than instructors) factor in in changing the dynamics of the course and affecting your future employment and graduate school prospects? Yes, you're in a highly-motivating environment. How much of its greatness actually trickles down and how much of this is significant when compared to the departments at UCLA where it is on a similar level of well-regard but not equal?
