so the time has come almost that all of us transfers have been waiting for. All i can say is that I can't wait for the UC application to officially open up. But honestly, how many other people besides me don't want to wait that 4-5 months waiting game on whether we get in or not? wish it was like a credit card decision, 60 seconds or less response!!!

that would be awesome if it was within a day.

well i cant wait and im anxious on this semesters classes.

I’m applying to UCLA but 99% not expecting to get in, so I won’t be crushed. It’s not GPA that’s an issue (will most likely be a 3.78 or 3.84 after this semester if nothing messes me up) it’s pre-reqs (would be applying for Electrical Engineering with about 60% of the pre-reqs done). I wish I was into an easy major, just by doing IGETC I’ve done all the pre-reqs for Sociology but I’m not SO into UCLA that I would pick an easier major just to go there.

I am dreading the waiting period. I know they say you will get your response sometime between March-May…do you know when the majority of students find out? And are there any factors that contribute to the turnaround time?

UCeric, I probably wouldn’t even apply then! Save your money and go for school that are more within your range.

SeeHerFly… Search for when it was this year, but I’d say 90% of people find out at the same time. This year it all came online on a friday at 5pm. It was mayhem on the forums.

I would be thrilled to go to UCSB or UCSD (those are my top 2 realistic choices, and the UCSB counselor said I have a good shot). But you can’t get in somewhere if you don’t apply, my sisters friend never dreamed of getting to UCLA but she did, so for me it’s easily worth the 60 bucks so I don’t have a what if or regret hanging over my head :).

I am going to freak out if I get into ucla!!! I have a 3.5 and am philosophy major. I don’t have tap though :-/ but do have and awesome upward trend. If not I have TAP to ucsd and I think I could be very happy there too.

ashleysara, and blue and gold, i am also a philosophy major with like a 3.55 applying to ucla. Looks like were gonna get to know eachother. ~65% admit rate for philosophy, hopefully budget cuts dont affect our admission negatively. Speaking of blue and gold, when do you need need to apply for the blue and gold scholarship? is it around the same time as the fafsa?

I agree. People seem to think that they will accept more because of the budget cuts, something about not being able to offer as much financial aid so more people will turn them down. The logic doesnt really make any sense to me though because its still one of the cheapest college options. Good luck to you guys hopefully we will all be going to school together at UCLA this time next year.

no i am still at a jc, but will hopefully be at ucla next year. where do u two go to school?

i go to santiago canyon college, santa ana college, and orange coast (darn budget cuts maks me go to three different campuses to be able to get into all my classes)

all your phil pre-reqs completed by end of fall?

Im at Pierce College…I have finished Intro to Phil and Ethics right now. This semester i am taking Logic in practice and Symbolic Logic. So All i will have next semester is the last prereq which is some history of european philosophy which i will take in spring.

Do you guys have good ECs? and what do u plan to write about in ur personal statements about why you chose philosophy

he gave a 15 pt EC T/F about this:
“I go to a zen restaurant in Seattle and see a bunch of women barely dressed. So I go up to the head chef and ask him, ‘aren’t you violating the 8 fold path’ and I get hit on the head…”
