Even if I don’t get into LA (or berk) I would still be happy with UCSB (got accepted). With that said getting into UCLA would still be beyond awesome and can’t wait till the 19th arrives.

@hoping
Eeek. I have a 3.79 so my chances aren’t super awesome, but I’ve heard of people getting in with lower than what I have so there’s still hope! I’m super nervous though

Does anyone know when they actually make the decisions? Like, do they make them in March and just torture us by making us wait? Or are they really reviewing apps til the day before?

They are probably reviewing apps up until the decision date and after. There are some people who received their acceptances past the specified date.

@sarah environmental engineering. UCLA is a Hail Mary for me. Not enough prereq’s done. :)

12 days! :]

Question for you guys. UCLA is a shot in the dark for me, it was sort of a last minute decision so I haven’t been as on top of it as you guys have. I’ve been eyeing UC Irvine. Anyhow, with Irvine I have a portal and can check in periodically. I also receive emails from time to time regarding financial aid updates, scholarship announcements or whatever. I received one email from UCLA in the very beginning thanking me for my application and that I would be notified. Am I to assume that is it. There is no portal or other correspondence right? When they send out decisions, how will be be notified? On the off chance I did get accepted, I’d like to be on top of it.

decision portal

@SoCal79 I didn’t receive emails from UCLA besides the same one you got. I received notifications from the School of Arts and Architecture reminding me when my portfolio was due back in January, but that’s due to my major (Design Media Arts).

I don’t know if they will notify us when decisions are out, my guess is that they probably will, since they haven’t even updated their website to say that decisions are being released on the 19th.

I’m just going to check the decisions website sometime after 5pm on the 19th.

Thanks, sumbum. That’s exactly what I was looking for - the site to check my status.

The norm with the other schools I applied to, both UCs and CSUs, is that they don’t send out any acceptance emails. You find out by checking the student portals constantly, or on a certain date.

Here’s a thought: I SIR’d to UCSD yesterday. Does that effect my acceptance to UCLA? It shouldn’t matter, I know, but my mother worked at UCLA for 20 years before she passed away, and at this point I would just like to know that I could have gone there, had I chosen to move back to L.A… so they won’t go: “Oh she SIR’d to UCSD already, don’t bother accepting her…” right?

Eyespy, I just went the my CC’s transfer workshop on Friday where they informed me that the UC’s are interconnected with SIR’s. once you SIR with one UC it takes you of the list from all other UC’s. he said you can appeal if you feel you made a mistake, but it’s difficult to say that you’ve changed your mind.

@SoCal79 Whoa! I did not know that. I heard from a friend that SIR is exclusively to the university.

11 days!!! :)

@SoCal79

I wonder if the CC transfer workshop was being truthful. In Ms. Sun’s post she said that it is possible, but unethical to SIR to more than one school. You definitely lose your deposit. I tend to believe this because we are encouraged to SIR, if we are placed on any waitlists. If this were the case, then there would be no point in asking to be placed on the waitlist, since there is no guarantee that you will be admitted off the list.

@BiotoUcla yes 11 more days!!! I’m starting to feel sick to my stomach :

@alevy123 aww, I know I keep thinking about it more and more and keep questioning whether or not I think I’ll get admitted LA has been my dream I would be sooo happy if I got in!!

@Socal

That is not true. I sent an SIR to both UC Irvine and UC San Diego out of high school (last admission cycle) and had no problems. I had the two SIR’s out for around a month or two.
